Katie Cassidy Rodger has played a significant role on Arrow ever since the first season, and now the actress has earned another key role in the production of the final season.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly’s Chancellor Agard, Rodgers confirmed that she will indeed be stepping into the director’s chair to helm an episode of the upcoming eighth season, joining the likes of fellow Arrowverse stars Melissa Benoist and Caity Lotz who will also be stepping behind the camera.

“Throughout the years I always have wanted to, and I just started shadowing more and shadowing more, and I recently did the Warner Bros. directors’ program, which was incredible,” Rodgers explained. “It’s going to be fun. I can’t wait to direct all you!”

There’s currently no info available on the episode she will be directing, but Rodgers is not the first Arrow actor to take the helm of an episode, as David Ramsey directed an episode of the previous season.

The final season of Arrow is scheduled to premiere October 15, 2019 and will see stars Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy Rodgers, David Ramsey, Juliana Harkavy, and Rick Gonzalez return to reprise their respective roles.

I love Katie so much so, even if I don't watch Arrow anymore, I'm thrilled to hear this. Honestly, I always LOVE when actors get a chance to direct on their own TV shows and expand their creativity and put what they learned from acting into it and the CW is really making it happen (The Flash has done it a few times, I think Gina Rodriguez directed in JTV, iirc Supernatural did it, apparently Arrow and now Supergirl and LoT).

I always liked Katie Cassidy. I stopped watching Arrow when they killed her the first time. Not just for that reason, the show was going in a direction i didn't enjoy. One day i'll go back and watch the firsts 2 seasons again because i loved those at the time.

Loved her since her role in Supernatural. At the start of Arrow I was looking forward to her becoming one of my favourite female superheroes. The showrunners has different plans for the character but was never her fault. Fingers crossed for the Birds of Prey movie to finally give me the Canary I love.

It's great news. I also think she teased that we could see multiple versions of Laurel just as we'll see multiple ones of Oliver.

Pretty cool that they got her to do this. Hopefully she's able to direct more episodes in other Flarrowverse shows.
