Deadline reports that All American actress Anna Lore is the latest addition to the cast of The CW's Gotham Knights pilot. She's landed a lead role as Stephanie Brown, a character in the comic books who has gone by Spoiler and Robin. In the main DC Universe (outside of The Dark Knight Returns), she was the first female superhero to hold the mantle.
Lore has joined Gotham Knights in a recasting, replacing another actress who was never publicly revealed. Now, she joins other previously announced series regulars Fallon Smythe, Tyler DiChiara, Olivia Rose Keegan, Navia Robinson, and Oscar Morgan in the DC Comics adaptation.
"Sarcasm matched only by her intellect, Stephanie (Lore) was raised on a steady diet of brain teasers and puzzles," reads the official character logline. "She’s honed her skills to become a formidable coder. But her greatest talent may be hiding a less-than-perfect home life."
If you're wondering what all those teases are referring to, it's likely the fact that Spoiler is Cluemaster's daughter.
Written by Batwoman scribes Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux and Natalie Abrams, Gotham Knights picks up in the aftermath of Bruce Wayne's murder, with his rebellious adopted son forging an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. As the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s been.
However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviours known, of course, as the Gotham Knights.
Danny Cannon will direct and executive produce the pilot, though it's yet to be ordered to series by The CW. Hopefully, when cameras start rolling, we'll get to see what these young heroes look like. Remember, the show isn't expected to be set in the Arrowverse and will likely be standalone.
