GOTHAM KNIGHTS Adds Anna Lore As The DC Universe's Second Female Robin, Stephanie Brown/Spoiler

Another major casting addition has been made to Gotham Knights, with actress Anna Lore set to take on the role of Stephanie Brown, a character who has been known as both Spoiler and Robin in the comics.

Deadline reports that All American actress Anna Lore is the latest addition to the cast of The CW's Gotham Knights pilot. She's landed a lead role as Stephanie Brown, a character in the comic books who has gone by Spoiler and Robin. In the main DC Universe (outside of The Dark Knight Returns), she was the first female superhero to hold the mantle.

Lore has joined Gotham Knights in a recasting, replacing another actress who was never publicly revealed. Now, she joins other previously announced series regulars Fallon Smythe, Tyler DiChiara, Olivia Rose Keegan, Navia Robinson, and Oscar Morgan in the DC Comics adaptation.

"Sarcasm matched only by her intellect, Stephanie (Lore) was raised on a steady diet of brain teasers and puzzles," reads the official character logline. "She’s honed her skills to become a formidable coder. But her greatest talent may be hiding a less-than-perfect home life."

If you're wondering what all those teases are referring to, it's likely the fact that Spoiler is Cluemaster's daughter.

Written by Batwoman scribes Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux and Natalie Abrams, Gotham Knights picks up in the aftermath of Bruce Wayne's murder, with his rebellious adopted son forging an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. As the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s been.

However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviours known, of course, as the Gotham Knights.

Danny Cannon will direct and executive produce the pilot, though it's yet to be ordered to series by The CW. Hopefully, when cameras start rolling, we'll get to see what these young heroes look like. Remember, the show isn't expected to be set in the Arrowverse and will likely be standalone.

Hope they reveal the person who killed Batman is a disgruntled Batmite who finally reaches his breaking point and no longer worships Batman.

DC once again doing everything in their power to make a Batman show without Batman.

@KWilly - Yeah, these Batman in universe-shows, in which they can't actually show the Batman himself due to legal reasons, are really getting frustrating. Like how many of these do we already have? Batwoman, Titans and now this. Am I forgetting someone?

In order for this to work, I'd say the tone, style and quality of the show has to match that of Superman&Lois, oppose to what CW usually delivers with "gems" like Batwoman, Supergirl or most of the Flash.

@Waddles - Superman & Lois' production value comes down to shooting with anamorphic lens that give that cinematic aspect ratio, that's it really.

And if possible, throw in a damn proper Batman cameo. Don't just endlesly tease him.

@Waddles - Hopefully if she's in it it will be executed properly. As long as Caroline Dries is no where near this there's potential.

Funnily enough, at the same time this was announced, they revealed who’s playing Obsidian in season 3 of Stargirl:

I'm still not sold on the premise of the show. Would've been a lot different if they just said that it's Harper Row, Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain vs Duela Dent

They appearing to be getting many of the Bat Family members in it. Harper, Carrie and now Stephanie. Not sure who the actor that is playing an apparent OC could be what I'm going with it being a code name so far.

Cassandra should be added here too because she's close to Stephanie.

I'm crossing fingers for a Damian and Duke casting too. (Perhaps they won't let them have a Tim nor Dick because of Titans? That'd be lame imo)

"Remember, the show isn't expected to be set in the Arrowverse and will likely be standalone." Multiverse still exists in the Arrowverse, Josh. And Black Lightning and Supergirl weren't spin-offs either and look where they ended up.

Seriously? They're letting the CW ruin Stephanie Brown's live action debut? I hope she doesn't end up like Hush and Batwoman, where people who don't read the comics think she's a bad character.
NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 3/28/2022, 6:49 PM
@Darkknight2149 - It's actually her 2nd live action debut, a different actress portrayed her in Batwoman Season 2. She even had Cluemaster as her parent the only difference here is that this actress looks a bit more comic book accurate because the previous one wasn't blonde.
