GOTHAM: Cameron Monaghan Teases A Jokery Transformation For Jerome In A New Photo

Jerome is cackling his way back to Gotham, and actor Cameron Monaghan has taken to Twitter to tease a much more definitive transformation for his unhinged villain when the show returns in the new year...

While Jerome's return to Gotham has been teased heavily, we still don't have an exact indication of when the character will pop back up in season 3 of Fox's Batman prequel series. However, that uncertainty hasn't stopped actor Cameron Monaghan from teasing a Joker-like transformation for his character with a mysterious and unsettling new photo.

The actor posted the pic to Twitter - deleting it a few hours later - showing Jerome in a purple vest, bow tie and a sinister grin, along with lighting that gives him the appearance of having pale white skin and red lips.  There's still no direct confirmation that Jerome is destined to be the Joker, but this photo serves as ever-increasing proof that the show is headed in that direction.

Jerome hasn't been seen since the character was murdered by Theo Galavan in season 2, though Monaghan's performance earned a lot of praise, so a return seemed likely despite the deadly circumstances. Are you excited to see Jerome back on Gotham? Let us know in the comments!

Gotham's "Mad City" arc continues in the new year.

Yeah... no. He shouldn't be back. He's a great actor and i liked his version of the Joker. Except his character arc focussed around his death along with how he inspired madness in those he met and while he probably will end up being back (because i don't believe the show has the nerve to actually follow through with its ideas) i don't think he'll be back in this episode.

The whole point of Jerome's story arc was that he created the concept of the Joker and that he was the original with future Joker's being simply created due to him - which would be why Joker would seemingly return from the dead because someone else would pick up the mantle. This is why its called the 'Mad City' arc because he essentially inspires insanity around the city.

The focus on this episode appears to be a rally for people inspired by Joker - while Gordon will probably believe its actually Jerome - I'm suspecting that in this episode its just going to be a random citizen who is disguised as the Joker/Jerome and that at the end of the episode Gordon will find the rally inspiring people to be like the Joker and end up finding the citizen dressed as the Joker, realising that even if Jerome is dead - the Joker lives on.

I agree. His arc ended in Season 2 and he almost certainly isn't the real Joker (as great as his performance was). I feel like the only reason they're bringing him back instead of introducing the next Proto-Joker is because people keep demanding it. It basically just fan service and no one responded to Jeri in Season 2 (the female Proto-Joker), so here we are...

@MattBellissimo - I wish someone would save him from Gotham, he's got some real talent and I can even see him as a redhead Wally West, but Gotham is so focused on being different that it forgets to be good

If anything, I hope we have a live action Joker for the Batman films long down the road. He has my vote for sure.

For the foreseeable future, that Joker is Jared Leto. Maybe Leto and Ben Affleck will address the Suicide Squad complaints in the new Batman films.

(Though, to be honest, I'm much more concerned about Jesse Eisenberg)

I was wondering, would you like to see batman in the flash or supergirl?

@BillCipher999 - Since I no longer watch Supergirl, Yes...on Flash or Arrow or Legends. I'd also like to see Aquaman, Superman (again), Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman. While we're at it, how about Batgirl, Robin, Blue Beetle, more Teen Titans (to set up a new show), and other JLA members. I'd also love to see a huge cross over where they have all of the heroes from all of the shows join forces to fight all of the villians from all of the shows...and possibly some new bigger villians.
