GOTHAM: 'Jerome' Pays A Visit To His Father In This Clip From The Next Episode

And the mangling of the Batman mythos continues.

The World's Greatest detective couldn't figure out to try BRUCE on the keypad to get into his dad's secret room?

Gordon kills someone for Penguin to get his job back?

Barbara Keane seems like she's becoming Harley Quinn.

This show got weird fast. Jerome is a great lunatic but Joker doesn't have a backstory. Backstories generally give us something to relate to. You are not supposed to relate to the Joker.

I give it 2 more episodes then I'm out. (that many just because I'm a Batman fan.)

Jerome's performance is more reminiscent of Joel Schumacker than any other modern Joker portrayal. Aside from the twisting of the mythos, the vibe of the show is becoming more campy. Like, them enhancing the graphic content actually has a reverse effect. I'm starting to lose interest. This Joker kid is not doing it for me.

I haven't watched any of S2 yet because I'm still way behind on S1. Because I lost interest. Because it's [frick]ing awful.

Ah no, it has its moments, far too inconsistent though.

@rogmel Actually I did it is one of the many reasons I never liked Burton's Batman. And at the time I was 12. I had been reading the comics for a while before then.

I don't have a problem with altering the mythology... within reason... but I need a show to be of a consistent level of quality (acting, script, plot, editing etc) and Gotham just isn't. Some S1 eps were downright laughable and it made it hard to care when they did pull a decent episode out of the bag. Still better than the CW though:)

Good god man, give this kid an oscar! I get chills whenever he speaks.

I made it through episode 2. Cameron is about the show's only saving grace. I cringed when we got the "monsters to cleanse the city" line. The old "cleanse the city by destroying it" approach by the bad guys....how unoriginal. Didn't we get that in the Arrow?

You can tell this kid did his Joker homework man, it's like seeing Hamil's animated version come to life with a slight mix of Ledger's

@rormachine

Yeah I just finished season 1, and it does have it's moments, usually with Falcone or Bullock, the dirty cop stuff. Almost anytime it gets into the comic stuff is when it gets bad, Bruce and Penguin are PAINFUL to watch. There are exceptions here to both of these rules, the Barbara/Montoya stuff almost made me stop watching.

I would say it's better than CW stuff though (marginally). The pacing is better, at least. They still have a villain of the week, but it doesn't feel anywhere near as formulaic as CW. And the villains are still a little further from being direct comic adaptations, which works better (Gotham's Dollmaker >>>>>>>>>>>>> Arrow's Dollmaker).

But any pros are easily outweighed by 5 minutes of Penguin screentime, and the story is so scattered that you can tell there is no plan and they are completely making things up as they go, so it's very reasonable to be skipping this.

Wow! i think he is doing a great job of conjuring Heath Ledger's nuance as the Joker. I don't watch the show but i might now.

Jerome isn't going to be Joker. I think he's Jeremy Karne, aka Kid Karnevil, the All-American Kid. He'll end up being a sidekick when the real Joker shows up someday.

I'm just happy it is as disconnected from the other great DC based tv comic shows. So when people tire of it, it won't have any continuity issues and can be canvelled. And then hopefully CW can use bat characters again.

Second episode was much better than that hammy first episode...Also...What was the point of the "maniax!" if most of them pretty much died...

I hate this show but the guy is really good. Kind of a copy of Ledger but good none the less. This clip was the longest thing i've seen from this show since episode 2 of season 1

It is an entertaining show if you are a comic book fan or not..The kid playing Jerome is a seems like a cross between Nicholson and Ledger! As others have said it is inspired by many incarnations we have seen in the books or on the screen. I like expanding the universe in the things I enjoy, good or bad it allows us to continue to get lots of things to see now and in the future!

At this point, I bet they'll make "Hush" a sassy black woman who's just trying to tell everyone to "shut up".

Who cares that this "Joker" has a back story. Every take on Batman so far on Tv and movies is different. This is just this version, not the gospil according to Batman. As for this version, seems this young man has combined Nicholson, Ledger and Hamel's Joker in one. This is creepy as hell. I love it! Haven't been a big fan of the show, but now it has hope. Can't wait to see when Jerome meets Penguin.
