GOTHAM: Jerome (The Joker?) Robs A Bank In New Photos From Season 4, Episode 17: "Mandatory Brunch Meeting"

While recent set snaps have revealed that Cameron Monaghan might be playing the real Joker in a few episodes, it looks like he'll still be causing plenty of mayhem as Jerome in the April 5th hour.

Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) may not be the actual Joker, but he's definitely channeling the Crown Prince of Crime in these new promotional stills that see him suit up to rob a bank, which may or may not bring back fond memories of the famous bank robbery scene in The Dark Knight.

As Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) do their best to contain the volatile situation, they'll also have to deal with the return of The Mad Hatter (Benedict Samuel) and Firefly (Michelle Veintimilla). Meanwhile, the Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) and Lee Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) butt heads while the Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) goes to Solomon Grundy (Drew Powell) with a very enticing proposal.

Check out new promotional stills from episode seventeen, titled "Mandatory Brunch Meeting," below:

They MUST make him the official Gotham version of the Joker already! He (pun intended) kills it in the role. You can not do any better in casting a younger Joker then this guy.

@Buckster10 - Cameron Monaghan will play the real Joker on Gotham this season. It just won't be Jerome. It'll be Jerome's clone/relative/duplicate. We don't know for sure yet.

@Nightwing1015 - I'd rather they just go with Jerome as his rich history on the show has really established him as a fantastic choice to play the official Mr. J. I feel as though he's really earned it.

@Nightwing1015 - If Jerome is not the Joker, I do not think Jerome is going to stay alive. Or maybe the situation is so out of control that Jerome becomes another character.

@Buckster10 -
Well, he's not. He's just Jerome. The showrunners are describing him as the "seed" and "impetus" that creates the Joker. According to showrunner Bruno Heller, "The creation of the Joker is a larger and more epic story than people realize, and this show is very much about kind of the deep, secret history. So, as the show rolls on, people will see how a mythology is born, how a kind of cultural mien is created that will lead us to the Joker himself. When the Joker appears, he is an inevitable part of the history of Gotham. He’s not someone who created himself out of nothing. He’s part of a whole cultural history, a whole tradition."

You don't have to like it, but the facts are the facts.

The first act of Bruce as a vigilante should be dropping Jerome/ his twin into axis chemicals, making him once again hang up the hockey pads (guilt-stricken) until Jerome resurfaces with the green hair and even MORE BATSHIT crazy.

And then just end it there.
And maybe launch a new series that isn’t the Jim Gordon Show
Not, that’s I dislike Gordon, but I feel like the point of his development has hit its crescendo.

Oh and now Barb is gonna have powers?
As many have said, one minute I love this show, the next minute I’m like WTTTTTF???

@djjoshuacarl - I think Barb is leading to a Ras return. He did a Spock mind0meld thig to her. And, yeah, Bruce should drop Jerome into the ACE chem vat.

That's not the Joker. That's clearly Jerome Valeska, who is confirmed (yes, confirmed) to be an entirely separate character. We have yet to see the real Joker on the show, unless they pull a twist and make another established character the Joker.

Although someone else will inevitably become the real deal, I have to say that Jerome has been doing an excellent job as the "Proto-Joker" (as the showrunners have described him). My three favourite Gotham characters are Jerome, Penguin, and the Riddler.

There are some rumours that the real Joker will end up being a relative or clone (potentially left-over from Indian Hill) of Jerome Valeska. If that's the case, I wouldn't mind it as long as Cameron Monaghan adds some differentiation, because he's awesome as Jerome.

@Darkknight2149 - The latest rumor is that GOTHAM’s Joker will be Jerome’s brother Jeremiah. I don’t know how much validity there is to that, but at least set photos gave us a great look at what Cameron Monaghan’s Joker will look like!

I've only seen the first season of this show after dropping it. It wasn't my cup of tea, but the few episodes I've revisited has been Cameron Monaghan's episodes and (especially his carnival episode) it looks like he has been killing it as the joker.
