GOTHAM Season 5 Enlists Former NIKITA Star Shane West For A Villainous Role - Could He Be Bane?
Gotham's upcoming fifth & final season has added former Nikita & Salem star Shane West in a major recurring role that may actually be a cover for one of Batman's most iconic - and back-breaking - villains.
Deadline is reporting that Gotham has cast Shane West in a villainous recurring role for its upcoming fifth and final season. He'll play a character named Eduardo Dorrance, who's being described as "an old Army buddy of Jim Gordon’s. Having lost touch with Jim after the war, Dorrance returns to Gotham years later, leading a team of elite soldiers with the goal of helping Gordon restore order to No Man’s Land. But as the scales fall from Gordon’s eyes, he realizes Dorrance’s true intentions in Gotham are much darker and more evil than he could have believed."
While that description would suggest he may be just an ordinary villain, it seems that there may be a lot more to his character than initially meets the eye. DHD adds that West's Dorrance may actually be related to another classic Batman foe, Sir Edmund Dorrance, a.k.a. King Snake, who is, of course, the father of one of the Dark Knight's most iconic - and back-breaking - villains: Bane.
Since Bane has already been confirmed to make his small-screen debut in the coming final season, presumably in the appropriately titled eighth episode, "I Am Bane," there's plenty of reason to believe West's casting may actually just be a cover for the fact that he's playing the venomous villain himself.
West is best known for his leading roles on Nikita, Salem, ER, and Once and Again. His film credits include A Walk to Remember and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
Season Four of Gotham will witness the emergence of the criminal landscape for which Gotham City is best known, with GCPD Detectives Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock at the forefront of the fight against the most depraved and unhinged villains. While Gotham City fights for normalcy, a new hero will rise, as Bruce Wayne begins to assume responsibility for the city’s well-being.
