GOTHAM TV Series To Kick Off With Gordon Investigating The Death Of Batman's Parents?

Some possible new details about Fox's Gotham pilot have emerged, and it sounds as if we should expect to see Detective Jim Gordon investigating the death of Thomas and Martha Wayne! The report also indicates that Solomon Grundy is indeed coming to Arrow...

According to Bleeding Cool, their source at Warner Bros. tells them that, "the pilot script for GOTHAM has Detective Jim Gordon trying to solve a very famous double homicide." For some reason, they go on to quote Gordon's line about The Joker and a double homicide from the end of Batman Begins, but that very much seems like a case of putting two and two together and coming up with five in this instance. It instead seems far more likely that the series will focus on a younger Gordon, starting the series with him investigating the death of Thomas and Martha Wayne. This would help keep Batman out of the equation and give the team behind the series a whole lot more freedom. A recent press release recently confirmed Cyrus Gold for Arrow, but the site also teases an actual appearance from Solomon Grundy too in the CW series!

And coming for Arrow, a teaser that starts with Solomon Grundy:

“Born on a Monday…”
Someone else survived the island.
Amanda makes an offer.
A better use for that clocktower.
What is the question you should have asked?
Ollie is not the first vigilante.
Not all hoods are green.
A blank expression.
“Archer”
“Rise”

And you're right josh, sounds more like the Wayne's to me too... Don't know why BC went with Joker , especially since their context comes from a trilogy that isn't going to be a part of the new continuity moving forwards...

This would be well before Bruce Wayne becomes Batman then. I honestly can't see this show having that many actual Batman characters in it. I'm sure Loeb, Flass, and the corrupted Gotham GCPD will play a part of the show. And they could also use members of the crime families like Falcone, Maroni, Thorne, Stromwell, maybe even Cobblepott, etc. This show could actually be pretty good even without Batman.

1. “Born on a Monday…”
2. Someone else survived the island.
3. Amanda makes an offer.
4. A better use for that clocktower.
5. What is the question you should have asked?
6. Ollie is not the first vigilante.
7. Not all hoods are green.
8. A blank expression.
9. “Archer”
10. “Rise”

Trying to decipher the teaser:
1. Solomon Grundy obviously.
2. Slade or Shado, but most likely Slade, as earlier this year Manu Bennett confirmed on Twitter that Slade would appear in modern day Starling City.
3. Amanda Waller offers Deadshot and/or Bronze Tiger a chance to join the Suicide Squad
4. Either Black Canary returns to the clock tower or the League of Assassins take sup residence
5. No clue, maybe Riddler?
6. Maybe Malcolm, since he trained and became a vigilante and member of the League of Assassins before Ollie did. Or maybe Sara.
7. Roy becomes Arsenal/Speedy/Red Arrow
8. IDK
9. Referring to Oliver and/or Roy and/or Malcolm

@Mrcbm

Too much in my opinion. They're oversaturating the comic book television landscape.

-Arrow

-Flash

-Gotham Central

-Constantine

-Hourman

-iZombie

- Lt. Gordon

- Young Justice

- The Avenger

These all seem to be done haphazardly. I think DC is beginning to just say "[frick] IT! In order to overcome marvel, we need to just have more shit than them. TV SHOWS FOR EVERYONE!" lol

And according to recent news

"According to Bleeding Cool, DC Entertainment's big news for 2014 may be that they are planning on prioritising, "A series of lower-prominence comic books being turned into relatively lower budget movies."Their release schedule would be on a TWO - A - YEAR basis in the Spring and Fall, giving Warner Bros."

DC also plans to have 2 lower budget films a year, in addition to the bigger budget ones.

My god, DC is going to kill comic book content on both tv and movies. They need to [frick]ing SLOW DOWN!

@ Maestro

You need to take into account not every person is going to watch every single show. Some viewers will watch some over others. Also I am sure certain shows will run different seasons of the years and on different networks.

Actually this is very smart of DC/WB to do this.

This excites more than any other potential TV show. It's a brilliant idea and a great way to showcase all of the non-bat history and characters of Gotham. Let's see Jason Bard, maybe a few death cults, a criminal circus, maybe the Court of Owls inducting a young Oswald Cobblepot.

- 9 dc television shows a year. lol NINE!
- 3 DC movies a year (at least, 2 smaller budget, one bigger budget. Could end up having 2 bigger budget shows as well also)

They need to relax. lol people think the general audience is going to get tired of marvel. How quick do you guys think they'll get tired of dc? They need to TAKE THEIR TIME. Over saturation could kill their universe before it even begins.

I don't know about this Gotham show. We already had a show about Gotham that didn't have Batman in it, it was called "Birds of Prey". And we all know how that fiasco played out.

I'll be watching EVERY one of these shows. But i'm telling you, if they don't do good on all or most of them. It'll be hard for them to recover. Simply because they'll have so many shows running.

Lol just imagine if 3 or 4 out of the nine get cancelled. marvel trolls will rip them to shreds for "always producing shit". I'm warning you now. Just look at Fox. They produced 2 bad films in the time span of 5 yrs (X3, Wolverine Origins). Only 2, and they STILL haven't fully recovered. The public doesn't have patience.

Marvel's agents of shield hasn't been great (even though I think it has been ok) for 9 episodes. And people have already labeled it shit. Lol now multiply that by a possibility of 9 for DC and their shows.

I'm warning you guys, this is veeeery risky.

1-Solomon Grundy
2-Slade Wilson
3-Suicide Squad
4-Birds of Prey, new hideout
5-How did Malcolm survive? The Lazarus Pit
6-Batman or an already existing hero visits from another city or is mentioned
7-Roy Harper becoming Red Arrow
8-The Question
(These are in quotes so I think they will be actually dialogue spoken by someone in an upcoming episode)
9-Ra's Al Ghul speaking to Ollie
10-Zombie Cyrus Gold after his first death being told to get up again
