PEACEMAKER Director James Gunn Shares (An Obstructed) New Look At John Cena In The HBO Max Series

Production on HBO Max's Peacemaker series continues, and writer/director James Gunn has now shared a new look at star John Cena (well, his eyes!) as he films a scene out of costume. Check it out...

Production continues on James Gunn's The Suicide Squad spinoff, Peacemaker, and the director has now shared a new photo of star John Cena as he films a scene.

In true Gunn fashion, the filmmaker has obscured most of Cena's face by sticking his hand in front of the monitor, but from what we can make out, ol' Peacemaker looks like he's been through the wars.

We're still not sure whether the HBO Max series will be be set before or after the events of The Suicide Squad, and Gunn is not about to drop any hints!

Peacemaker will also star Danielle Brooks, Steve Agee, Jennifer Holland, Chris Conrad, Robert Patrick and Chukwudi Iwuji. Specific plot details are still under wraps, but we do know that the series will explore the origins of Cena's titular DC Comics villian/antihero, a man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.

Gunn is writing and directing the show, which was ordered to series last September. The character will make his debut in The Suicide Squad, which is set to debut simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max this August.

Peacemaker is expected to premiere next January.

James Gunn should do more of the characters that DC got from Charlton comics.

Blue Beetle would be perfect for him (Ted). Not sure about Question

Not really feeling this character so far in the comics, but maybe the live action adaption will win me over with Cena.

I kinda enjoy seeing John Cena show up in stuff, so I hope I'll enjoy an entire show with him as well. And if it's gonna be anything like The Suicide Squad trailers, I think I will

I am just not super interested in John Cena or Peacemaker. I'm going to give it a shot because I love Gunn and his work and hopefully get surprised!

John Cena unleashed under the direction of Gunn? Yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be good.

After Peacemaker, Gunn has to work on a DC project about "Jack Kirby's O. M.A.C.: One Man Army Corps." He's the perfect type of character for Gunn.

Character looks fun in the movie. Bold move though moving him to series before the general public even has a response to him.

@Darkknight2149 - But we can see his mouth and cheeks even with the helmet on. No scars. The part we can see in this new picture is covered by the helmet. Although this could be set after the film and something else happens. Maybe scars from a Starro stuck to his face?

Funny how he gave The Rock so much crap for going to Hollywood only for him to be bored of WWE and go to Hollywood.
