As production continues on the second season of Peacemaker, we have word on two new additions to the cast of James Gunn's The Suicide Squad spin-off series.

THR reports that Picard's Sol Rodriguez and The Office actor David Denman have both signed on in supporting roles, and at least one of them will play an established DC Comics character.

While details on Denman's role are being kept under wraps, Rodriguez has been cast as Sasha Bordeaux, who made her debut as a Batman ally back in 2000’s Detective Comics No. 751.

First introduced as a young martial artist who is hired as Bruce Wayne's bodyguard by Lucius Fox, The Dark Knight actually trained Bordeaux as his new apprentice before she was framed for the murder of Vesper Fairchild and sent to prison. She later joined forces with the government agency known as Checkmate.

Rodriguez played Doctor Teresa Ramirez on season two of Picard, and also led the Netflix rom-com Holiday in the Vineyards. Her other credits include Freeform’s Party of Five reboot, and ABC Signature/Lifetime series Devious Maids.

Denman is probably best known for playing Roy on NBC’s The Office, and previously worked with Gunn in Brightburn. He has also appeared in 13 Hours, Big Fish, Bosch: Legacy, and current Netflix series Eric.

The trade also confirms that Gunn will helm three season 2 episodes.

Season 2 plot details are still mostly under wraps, but we do know that Frank Grillo will reprise his Creature Commandos role as Rick Flag Sr., and will be seeking revenge for Peacemaker killing his son Rick Jr. (Joel Kinnaman) in The Suicide Squad.

When Gunn took the job as co-CEO of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, it seemed pretty obvious that Peacemaker season 2 was going to be part of the new DCU, and while this is the case, Gunn recently revealed that the first season is not!

We're not certain why (the Justice League showing up in the S1 finale likely has something to do with it), but, as far as we know, this is the first time two seasons of the same series will exist in different continuities.

"Peacemaker explores the continuing story of the character that John Cena reprises in the aftermath of executive producer James Gunn's 2021 film The Suicide Squad – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it!"

The Peacemaker season one cast also includes Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Chukwudi Iwuji, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick. Gunn wrote all eight episodes and also directed five of them, starting with the pilot.

Gunn, Peter Safran, and Matt Miller are the series' executive producers. Co-executive producer John Cena and consulting producer Stacy Littlejohn are also involved in the production of the show.

Man , what’s with Gunn casting attractive Latin actresses in these properties?.

I mean , I don’t mind it but just a curious pattern lol.

Anyway , not familiar with Ms Rodríguez but cool to finally see a version of Sasha in live action and makes me wonder if she’ll have ties to DCU’s Batman if he’s somewhat established in this universe already…

That would be cool or perhaps even Maxwell Lord as she does in the comics aswell.

I can see Denman playing Gut Chase who was mentioned in S1…

He was Peacemakers friend and the older brother of Vigilante so we can flesh out the latter more aswell as Chris’s childhood.

OT: Haven't heard much about Bad Boys 4 here. It's a big summer blockbuster that delivers imo. Just got back from the theater. It was a great time. Martin has been seeming a little slower nowadays, but he was great in this film. That spark is back. They even did a little nod to a certain infamous moment in Will's recent history...ahem.

I had a great time 8.5/10
