The casting process for Epix's Batman prequel Pennyworth continues and it's now been confirmed that Paloma Faith will be taking on the role of Bet Sykes, a character who is described as being a cruel adversary who will test the courage of young Alfred Pennyworth and his new boss, Thomas Wayne (the future father of Gotham City's Caped Crusader).
While her name may not be familiar to those of you living outside of the United Kingdom, Faith is a Platinum-selling singer whose last album hit #1 on the British pop charts and stayed in the Top 40 for an impressive 32 weeks. She's never made much of an impact in the states but certainly has her fair share of fans.
Faith's character is said to be a "spirited, sadistic and sharp-tongued villain" but like most of this series, it doesn't sound as if she's based on anyone in particular from the comic books.
Pennyworth stars Jack Bannon as the titular character who we find here as a former SAS soldier in his 20s in 1960s London (which would make him in his 80s today). Gotham executive producers Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon are developing the series which may or may not serve as a prequel to the FOX series. What do you guys make of this latest casting addition?
