The CW has shared a couple of new promos for Stargirl, which now carries the tagline "A New Generation of Justice" on its updated logo.

The first spot sees young Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) use the Cosmic Staff to take to the skies, surfing off the roof of her house in a move that should be familiar to DC Comics fans. The second is lightly longer, and finds Stargirl doing battle with a masked villain. Could this be a member of the Injustice Society? Thanks to a new synopsis, we know they're set to debut in the second episode.

Have a look at the promos below, and let us know if you plan on checking out Stargirl when it premieres on DC Universe on May 12.

After a dangerous run-in with a member of the Injustice Society of America, Pat warns Courtney to back down from her attempts to go after them. But when she encounters what she believes to be a message from one of them, she urges Pat to help her. Meanwhile, Barbara makes strides at work, which impresses her new boss Jordan Mahkent (series star NEIL JACKSON). Guest stars in “Icicle” include Joe Knezevich as William Zarick, Eric Goins as Steve Sharpe, and Mark Ashworth as Janitor Justin. Michael Nankin directed the episode which was written by Colleen McGuinness.

Just recently found out that Geoff Johns created Stargirl and based her on his sister Courtney, to honor her after she died in the 1996 explosion of TWA Flight 800. Heartbreaking, but touching.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Didn’t know that. I remember the news reports though, happened during the summer games.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - That's really cool, I didn't know that. Thank you for sharing.

I found this quote online about it:

"My sister was the inspiration for the character, the good qualities instilled in the character. The initial inspiration was there, but Stargirl has taken on a life of her own. She's her own character now." - G. Johns
