Supergirl is set to return to our screens on October 9 for its highly anticipated third season, and The CW has just debuted a new trailer which focuses on the "Hero's Journey" undertaken Kara (Melissa Benoist).

The promo features some new footage of The Girl of Steel and several of her supporting characters - including an intriguing glimpse of Mon-El, who will seemingly be reintroduced in some sort of dream sequence.

Check the teaser out below along with some stills, which provide our first official look at former Smallville actress Erica Drance as Alura.

The trailer is still keeping many things under wraps IMO. Not even a look into Morgan Edge.

But maybe it'll surprise with many stuff later.

The writing in S2 was better than S1, so here's hoping the upswing will continue and we get a great s3. If nothing else, I just enjoy watching the cast. Benoist and co. are wonderful.
