SUPERMAN & LOIS: Always Hold On In The New Promo For Season 1, Episode 5; "The Best of Smallville"

WIth Jonathan (Jordan Elsass) seriously struggling to adjust to his new home, next week's episode of Superman and Lois will see Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) do his best to convince his son to give Smallville a little more time to grow on him, which is much easier said than done. The hour will also see Clark learn a valuable lesson that will help him move past his mother's death.

Meanwhile, Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) makes a major breakthrough in her investigation of Morgan Edge (Adam Rayner), but lands herself in some hot water when Captain Luthor (Wolé Parks) pays her a visit, and based on the latest promo, seemingly takes her hostage in an effort to draw out Superman.

Due to a previous COVID-related production shutdown, the next episode will also be the last installment before the series heads into its extended midseason hiatus until May 18. Luckily, to fill the time, Supergirl will be back on March 30 with its long-awaited sixth and final season premiere.

"The Best of Smallville" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

HOME - As Smallville celebrates its first Harvest Festival since Martha's passing, Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) is reminded what his mother meant to him and learns a lesson that will help him move past her death. Lastly, Kyle (Erik Valdez) tries to reconnect with Lana (Emmanuelle Chriqui), but it seems like he might be falling back into his old ways. Dylan Walsh, Jordan Elsass and Alex Garfin also star. (#105). The episode was directed by Rachel Talalay with story by Todd Helbing and teleplay by Brent Fletcher and Nadria Tucker. Original airdate 3/23/2021.

Why do I get the feeling that Morgan Edge is gonna accidentally stumble across Doomsday.
Another solid episode loved all the character progressions

@Godzilla2000Zer - seems like it would be a bit soon for that

@dracula - I only disagree because we're dealing with an experienced Superman

@Godzilla2000Zer - Well if it happens, using him as a pawn of another villain is for the best. Doomsday cant work as a season long villain. Thats why they basically turned him into a werewolf in smallville

@dracula - I liked how he was used in Krypton but I not convinced that Doomsday's gonna appear but I think it's a possibility

@Godzilla2000Zer - Man Krypton was a great show, really the tones are so similar, they could just take those versions of Zod, Doomsay and Lobo into this show and it would work really well.

@dracula - Agreed I definitely want to see Brainiac battle Superman at some point in live action. Long Overdue.

@Godzilla2000Zer - Oh yeah, when Superman and Lois eventually does Brainiac, Krypton's version is the standard they have to live up to. That looked good enough for a movie

I've noticed the color pallette of this show is very murky and brown. Would someone turn on a light? Lol

Wonder who will be the season 2 big bad.

Zod?

If they continue to take from the rebirth runs, Eradicator would be a good pick, having him go after Jon and Jordan

Not the strongest episode this season, but still pretty solid. Looks like General Lane is slowly shifting into a more antagonistic role.

Show is kind of more like a drama than an action show.

Its working really well

Thought they would call the new protocol, Project CADMUS

@dracula - Isn't CADMUS a Supergirl aspect though?

@HeavyMetal4Life - Technically they used the name (more of a terrorist organization, not government), but they were taken down back in season 2. Plus that was pre crisis

@dracula - that's fair

Good strong episode. Yeah not as good as the last couple ones but still good. Once again the show is well written, with some good action, good visuals, good acting, and nice character growths. One thing that this show is doing well is depicting how Clark must juggle his duties, and how different people view this struggle. Its done well and hasn't really been highlighted before for Supes.

What was the meteor storm in the beginning? More kryptonite?

@HeavyMetal4Life - Was that meteor storm taking place on this Earth too or another? I couldn't figure it out as no one else was there or mentioned it

Was that gold Kryptonite they showed along with green?

Also I guess they're going with the "meteor rock" giving powers like in Smallville.

Weakest episode so far, hope the quality goes back up.

I quit the CW DC shows years ago and never looked back (with the exception of tuning in for the occasional crossover), but I have seen some of the action sequences from this show on YouTube and am honestly amazed at how well done they are and how good they look.

@Shroombeast - I was the same, I haven’t watched any CW show since Smallvile - but started watching this and it’s pretty good.
