SUPERMAN & LOIS: Inde Navarrette To Play Lana Lang's Daughter In The CW Series

While we still don't know whether Superman & Lois will premiere on The CW as planned this fall, more casting additions continue being made, and we have new details on Lana Lang's daughter, Sarah Cushing...

Deadline reports that Inde Navarrette has joined the cast of Superman & Lois as a series regular. She will play Sarah Cushing, the daughter of Lana Lang and her abusive husband Kyle Cushing.

Sarah Cushing is described as a whip-smart, supercool wild child with some demons in her past who becomes friends with the Kent boys, Jonathan and Jordan. We recently learned that Erik Valdez is playing Kyle, while Emmanuelle Chriqui was recently cast as classic Superman character Lana.

The events of Crisis on Infinite Earths led to Clark Kent having not one, but two, children, and common sense says we'll follow them as they start to develop superpowers just like the Man of Steel.

Developed by The Flash executive producer Todd Helbing and Greg Berlanti, Superman & Lois is based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and revolves around the world’s most famous superhero and comic books’ most famous journalist, as they deal with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society.

Navarette will next be seen in Netflix's 13 Reasons Why, and was most recently seen in Wander Darkly

We're not entirely sure when Superman & Lois will be able to resume production (or when it will air), but it's certainly shaping up to be a very different take on the iconic DC Comics character.

I guess I missed the casting of Lois and Clark's kids. They went full soap-opera-kid-aging, didn't they?

Based on the actor's ages, Lois would have only been 20 when she gave birth to Jonathan. (Clark would have only been 14, but I guess you can fudge that by saying he's just a really youthful Kryptonian 40 year old.)

...Let me try to express my feelings with an analogy. I see this project like the light of a train in the distance on a snowy night on the other side of the treeline. It looks to me like it's entirely derailed, because I'm standing on the ordinary Superman tracks over here, and it's way way over there. But maybe it's on some other set of tracks I don't know about. It's entirely possible.

@Spock0Clock - The bigger issue than the age discrepancies is the fact that Hoechlin's woefully mis-cast in this role.

True.

@tmp3 - I guess I just don't get the angle. 90's Lois and Clark was Super-Moonlighting and it was great (in that 90's cheesy way that was terrible but also great). Smallville was like Super-Dawson's Creek and a lot of people think it was great (I didn't watch it).

Hoechlin is a serviceable Superman when he does a walk-on for Supergirl without stepping on anybody's toes, but if the gimmick of this show is domestic millennial Super-Dad, then yeah I'd probably agree Hoechlin is miscast. But I still try to stay aware there are tracks out there that I can't see in the dark.

The fact that we didn't get a Routh Superman series instead of this blows my mind.

@Highflyer - Exactly. No offense to Tyler, but Brandon's Superman was all around superior and made Tyler's feel even weaker than the Arrowverse portrays him. Even with his return, he was still shafted, never showing just how even more powerful he became. Maybe they though he would make the others look inferior.

So what are the chances we see John Henry Irons and Natasha Irons in this show at some point?

@TheUnworthyThor - Crossing fingers that it happens since it hasn't so far in Supergirl as I always vouched to get more Superman Family members. I expected at least Natasha Irons would show up though.

Titans still has Conner but I really hope they don't mind sharing it later, Conner could act as a big brother figure to the brothers here.

I want to have faith in this series but this feels like daytime tv with superpowers. I was barely making my peace with this CWverse and now with this upcoming Superman series, it doesn't exactly sound or feel like a Superman series to me. Just more like "The Young and the Kryptonian". At least "Lois and Clark" and "Smallville" though products of their time, felt like true staples to the Man of Steel.

Why do I get the feeling it's going to be 'revealed' that Lana Langs kid is actually also Clarks?

@Nerdman3000 - Right?! As soon as she shoots out heat vision, I'm done.

We have the two families set so far then, the Kents and the Cushings.

I wonder if the daughter will use her smarts to slowly pierce together that the Kent brothers' dad is Superman.
