SUPERMAN & LOIS Season 3 Finale Promo Sees Lex Luthor Vow To Kill The Man Of Steel

A promo for next week's season 3 finale of Superman & Lois has been released, and it sees Lex Luthor on the warpath as he vows to put an end to the Man of Tomorrow once and for all. Check it out here...

Superman & Lois was granted a reprieve earlier this month when The CW cancelled Gotham Knights and gave the show a truncated fourth, and presumably final, 10-episode season.

Many cast members won't return and, if they do, it will be in relatively minor supporting roles. The network is clearly looking to save money on one of its most expensive shows, but we're sure the battle between Superman and Lex Luthor will deliver.

Next week's season 3 finale is going to see them go head-to-head, something that's evident from a thrilling new promo for "What Kills You Only Makes You Stronger."

"All of Smallville comes together to view a meteor shower," reads the synopsis, "[and] Lex Luthor (guest star Michael Cudlitz, 'The Walking Dead') makes his move. Gregory Smith directed the episode written by Brent Fletcher & Todd Helbing."

It's previously been confirmed that season 3 of Superman & Lois ends with a cliffhanger, so the fact the show will return and resolve it is news that's been welcomed by fans.

"We are thrilled to bring All American: Homecoming and Superman & Lois back to The CW," The CW's President of Entertainment, Brad Schwartz, said earlier this month. "These series are two of our strongest performers across our linear and digital platforms with some of the most passionate fanbases in all of television."

"We are grateful to our partners at Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions for their continued collaboration, and we cannot wait to get started on the new seasons."

With Lex Luthor on the warpath, the Man of Tomorrow may be in major trouble and we can't help but wonder what he's looking at in horror here. Is there a chance the villain is going to don his mechanised suit from the comics for this clash with his old foe? Here's hoping.

The Superman & Lois season 3 finale airs on The CW on June 27.

I forget these shows are on. Anyone else think that the availability of live-action TV incarnations of the DC characters kind of waters down the excitement for whatever the next movie event is (in a way that the animated shows don’t)?

Even the access to Marvel’s Disney+ shows seems to have a slight dampening effect on the special-ness of the theatrical movies — and those shows are in-MCU.

@NoAssemblyReqd - I think the poor writing pool for the films is what dampens the specialness of the movies. Superman & Lois is the best Superman content in many years. Meanwhile on film you have Snyder’s edgy anti-Donner take and what will likely be Gunn’s neo-Donner take. I hope I’m proved wrong on that latter front, but honestly the issue isn’t with too many TV shows, but with this new post-COVID combo of bad writing and cheap production (such as the Volume) across the board.

@NoAssemblyReqd - The mediocre adaptations of the DC characters in the cinematic fashion is the only thing that waters down said excitement. It's the film divison's fault that they haven't delivered most of the time whereas DCTV the majority of times always caught audiences and made them tune week after week.

The issue with MCU's shows was that they all came out one after the other in 2021 IMO which is different and fans began to notice how the quality was not being prioritized whereas quantity was.

He doesn’t feel like Lex at all

@GhostDog - What should Lex feel like iyo...I'm curious because I want to know why in general this character is something of a enigma for studios, even going back to Reeves Supes?

@The1st - I’m no expert. Supes is. Top 5 fave hero of mine so I’d like to think I know enough. I think it’s one of those things where it’s somewhat hard to pinpoint but also pretty evident.

There’s been plenty of versions of Lex and throughout all of those different iterations i have definitely found some versions to work better than others. Based on this teaser, he comes off as thuggish. I guess that would be considered a unique characterization of Lex. For me, I’ve never taken Lex for a thug. And I know he’s done hard time here but it doesn’t feel right.

I’m always game to be proven wrong and I’ve liked Cuditz in things. And as long as he’s still to his core a xenophobic, ambitious, sociopath then it’s staying true

@GhostDog - I'd have to agree. The physically makes sense from prison time, but at his core he should very much be that version of Lex you described.

"All of Smallville comes together to view a meteor shower,"

Melissa Benoist to return in the final season of Superman and Lois, please.

@Repian - think they would go with a younger supergirl around the same age as Jon and Jordan

@dracula - It's possible. I just not unsure if they can allow themselves to introduce a 6th new cast member after the bloodbath they had to do with the former 7 actors that they had to sacrifice to get Season 4. There is also the subject of a younger Supergirl of the same age as the brothers that would come with all of the typical teenage issues on top of Kara being very temperamental. Imagine Sasha Calle's version but now as a teen. Plus with Jordan's latest episodes of rebellion. That'd be a alot for Lois and Clark to handle.

That's the good thing about Melissa's Supergirl: she already went through most of that and right now having another collected and veteran Kryptonian that can keep the head of the "Smallville Samaritan" checked would be useful. P.S. I am not saying they have to bring in that specific version, just that having someone else with that experience would be wise.

And also, I have a feeling that before even casting a younger Supergirl we would see first Lex's adult daughter which the episode established as something that aches him emotionally for missing out. That to me was a clear open thread that must be explored in S4. Unless they're willing to literally ignore it just like they did in S2 between Lois and Natalie which would be dumb to repeat the same mistake.

Finally a live action Lex Luthor I love

@Godzilla2000Zer - I liked the one on Titans, but of course that was short-lived. I think Cuditz has potential and the fanbase established working in his favor, but we'll see.

I don't plan to see season 3 (S2 was a bit too Cw drama), but I wonder, who is Superman gonna fight physically?

Is there any other villain? Because Lex probably won't be a brawn issue.

Gotta say, I've been loving how they build up Lex in this show. This man, so wicked, they threw him back from Hell. He doesn't have any powers, but people whose powers make them a threat, are still scared of him. Like they said, that he radiates this aura of dark menace.

@Odin - yeah, they did a great job building him up as a really wicked guy

Probably one of the best episodes of the season, maybe the best. Felt like a bit of a return to form.
