The CW has made a number of changes to the Scarlet Speedster's costume since The Flash debuted in 2014, but one big alteration is coming to season 8 that's guaranteed to make fans happy. Yes, Barry Allen really is getting his gold boots, and you can check them out in the new image below.
Grant Gustin was on hand to share an official first look during DC FanDome (you may have already seen them in set photos), though the suit itself remains unchanged for the most part.
"[The boots are] the final element that’s been missing," the actor said during his appearance at the virtual event. "I’ve loved all the versions of The Flash suit we’ve had on the show, but the suit we have now is the closest to the many iterations you see in the comic books - with the exception of those gold boots. I’ve always felt that those boots would be the final touch."
The Flash is set to return to The CW for season 8 with a five-part "Armageddon" crossover event on Tuesday, November 16. It's previously been reported that Gustin's contract ends after this year, and there's been no word on a potential season 9. The series remains popular, however, so we'd be surprised if the network doesn't go to great lengths to convince the actor to return.
