THE FLASH: Hope Dies In The New Extended Promo For The Season 3 Finale: "Finish Line"

There have been a lot of rumors floating around since the events of last night's episode of The Flash, and it looks like this new extended promo may have debunked the most popular fan theory...

Barry Allen did his best all season to save Iris from an untimely demise, but unfortunately, in the end, Savitar proved to be just one step ahead and delivered a fatal blow to the Scarlet Speedster's lady love.

Ever since the episode aired, there have been a lot of rumors floating around the interwebs, with the most popular fan theory currently being that H.R. somehow, in the heat of battle, managed to switch places with Iris at the last second with his face-swapping technology and sacrified himself to save her. However, while that theory is absolutely plausible (and not to mention quite noble), it doesn't look like we'll be seeing it come to fruition as the new extended preview reveals that H.R. was actually on the roof watching helplessly as Savitar devastated Team Flash.

Check out the new extended promo for the third season finale, titled "Finish Line" below:

"Finish Line" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

Blinded by anger, Barry unwittingly plays into Zoom's game and uncovers the evil speedster's true goal: to destroy all the earths in the multiverse. In the face of his life, Barry ultimately gets the upper hand against Zoom and defeats his nemesis. But unable to celebrate victory, Barry makes a world-shaking decision and speeds back in time to the night his mother died to stop Reverse Flash from killing her, irrevocably changing his past and redetermining his future.

Whoever directed that episode did a great job! That song that playing in the beginning of the episode and then during the death scene was perfect!

What an ep that was.

Can't tell if Savitar/Future Flash was faster with the Stone or not. At least now the origin of it was cleared up and why Cisco couldn't find from where it came from.

Can't wait for the finale.

My guess would be that since the multiverse is at play, they have another Earth version of Iris show up next season.

Maybe they got Felicity to stand in for Iris using the face-swapping thing.

Remember the set photos from a month or so ago that had shots of a funeral? I guess that must be Iris's funeral? I can't remember who was and wasn't in those photos.

Savitar told Killer Frost something to the effect of, you know what you must do. Maybe she got ahold of the tech somehow and sacrificed herself?

Man I dunno. I'm reaching here. THIS DAMN TIMELINE!!!!!

Really good episode though. Don't think ive felt that way for a CW Show since

*spoilers for Arrow*
