THE FLASH: Iris West Gets A Superhero Costume Of Her Own When She Gains THE FLASH's Powers

If you're a fan of the Scarlet Speedster's comic book adventures, you'll know that Iris West is an intrepid journalist who could give Lois Lane a run for her money. However, that career path hasn't been mentioned for a while now in The Flash and Iris has instead taken on a leadership role in Team Flash. Things are about to get even weirder, though, because Barry Allen's wife is about to gain some powers!

It doesn't sound like this will be a permanent change based on the synopsis but Iris will clearly have The Flash's powers long enough to gain a new costume which you can check out in the image below.

"Run, Iris, Run" - IRIS SUITS UP — Team Flash confronts a new bus meta, Matthew AKA Melting Pot (guest star Leonardo Nam), with the ability to swap people’s DNA. During a battle with Team Flash, Harold transfers Barry’s (Grant Gustin) super speed to Iris (Candice Patton). Now, with a new threat unleashed on Central City, Barry must act as the team leader while Iris takes on the mantle of superhero speedster in order to defeat their new foe. Harry Jierjian directed the episode written by Eric Wallace (#416). Original airdate 3/13/2018.

What do you guys think of this new look for Iris? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

Damn, that "No, Barry WE are The Flash" took whole new meaning looooool!

@Doomsday8888 - I got the intent, but... All I'll say is: If I'm a superhero risking my life every day in some red longjohns, I don't want to hear my SO say she's also doing it (from a safe distance sitting behind a computer screen).

@Spock0Clock -
IKR?
Barry's reaction should've been:

...But seriously, what was Jessica Parker Kennedy doing at that wedding? We all know she's Barry and Iris' kid from the future or something, right?

@Spock0Clock - Probably making sure everything happens the way its supposed to until something endangers she and her brother's existence. I actually want to see the season end with her and Don appear to Joe asking for his help.

@Spock0Clock - Can it be Joe's new baby??? I was set on it being Barry and Iris' daughter, mainly because of the theories on here but she does remind me of Joe and Cecile, moreso Cecil but it can just be genes

I like the CW shows but the costumes are just bad at this point. They all look the same. Just the same leather costume recoloured again and again.

Also they're sometimes radically different from their comic book versions.

@Nightwing1015 - I still can't fathom why they keep going with thick, inflexible leather for their speedster characters. It's almost as silly as armor plating.

@web3d - Even like that stretchy material that supergirl’s shirt has makes more sense for speedsters. Breathable, lightweight material that you can imagine a runner wearing.

This sounds vaguely familiar...

before y´all start complaining

(also not a coincidence they release this in the middle of black panther succes)

@NicolausCopernicus - This costume looks nothing like that though. Just a "default" CW costume.
TheLight

@NicolausCopernicus - Not gonna lie, Candace Patton would look so good in that suit.
HarrowRed
HarrowRed - 2/22/2018, 1:14 PM
@NicolausCopernicus - did you actually read that book though? Iris doesn't have powers in that book. She's just wearing a suit because Barry is running with her at crazy speeds and she'd burn up due to friction. Doesn't really seem to apply here, since most people are complaining about her being yet another speedster (however brief it will be) not that she has a costume.

Does anyone on this show not become a superhero?

NEXT WEEK ON THE FLASH: Cisco's puppy, Speedy, suits up and becomes a new speedster! With special guest appearance by Tom Cavanaugh as Harrison Wells XVII !

@SpideyPuffsMJ - Are you insulting Tom Cavanaugh, though?

It's kinda dumb when every supporting character of a hero gets superpowers, especially if they are the same/similar to the ones of the protagonist.
It doesn't make him/her special anymore.

If the DNA is connected to Barry's powers, then in theory that's the show over.

You've isolated his DNA and have the ability to remove it from him completely and give it to others, this naturally implies you know what aspects of the DNA are needed to grant access to the speed-force and thus gain Super-speed.

Here is why this breaks the show;

• You've remove the speed-force from his DNA, you know exactly what causes super-speed and have the ability to remove it. Any future speedsters you can therefore remove the DNA giving them access to the speed-force. Fast villains can no longer be used as a result as you have a method to unpower them.

• You've identified what DNA causes the super-speed, you can also clearly transfer it to Iris without issues despite her having different DNA, so you can now create unlimited speedsters. At this stage it's just a simple matter of introducing encouraging cell division and you effectively can bestow anyone with the powers of Barry.

All of this shows weak attempt at science that breaks the premise is simply for introducing a power swap scenario. It would be more believable if the two were in an accident involving the speedforce and somehow the powers transferred temporarily.

@Scarilian - are you actually thinking this much about the science of these shows? Brother CW science died the day Felicity started hacking missiles with her tablet.

@RageDriver2401 -
True, though it just seems unnecessary. If they needed technobabble they could have just had it in the episode rather than trying to sound smart by putting it in the description.
