THE FLASH Season 8 "Armageddon" Trailer Features Some Big Cameos And [SPOILER]'s Return

The CW has released the first trailer for The Flash season 8, and the spotlight is put squarely on the "Armageddon" crossover that will feature characters like Black Lightning, The Atom, and Batwoman...

When The Flash returns for its eighth season, it will be with the five-part "Armageddon" storyline. That's set to incorporate characters from multiple DC TV shows, including Javicia Leslie as Batwoman, Brandon Routh as The Atom, Cress Williams as Black Lightning, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers/Sentinel, Kat McNamara as Green Arrow's future daughter, Mia Queen, and Osric Chau as Ryan Choi.

What brings The CWVerse's version of the "Justice League" together? Despero (Tony Curran), a deadly new villain who has set his sights on both the Fastest Man Alive and the entire Earth.

Described as "a powerful and intelligent alien possessing incredible powers," it's said that after Despero left his homeworld of Kalanor, the villain travelled to Earth "on a deadly mission, one whose outcome will decide the fate of humankind and put him on a collision course with Team Flash."

In this first trailer for The Flash, we see the heroes who will take centre stage in "Armageddon" and get a big surprise when Tom Cavanagh returns...as Harrison Wells! This could be the original, but seeing as time-travel clearly factors into the event (explaining Mia Queen's presence), we'd be willing to bet that Eobard Thawne, a.k.a. Reverse-Flash, has somehow returned.

If season one's Reverse-Flash is back, then it could tie into the recent news that Rick Cosnett is reprising his role as Eddie Thawne; his death wiped Eobard from existence.

The Flash returns to The CW on November 16.

Why didn't they just release this during DC FanDome?

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - yeah.

Wonder how much we will get of alien Despero

Please be better than the last 2 seasons

Really while Legends Of Tomorrow is still good, id say it and Flash have run their course and should end soon. (Would also not care if Batwoman is cancelled)

Superman & Lois and Star Girl are FAR above any of the other shows. Hopefully Naomi continues this elevated level of quality trend

Tony Curran really makes his presence felt in the trailer, I am digging his take on Despero, especially when he is playing chess.

The whole "7 days" makes me think of "The Ring" though.

Tone for the crossover looks good.

Black Lightning referencing his story's motto to Barry was a nice part. I am also glad that they are going to use the Hall of Justice that Barry updated since Crisis.

I noticed Ray trying to do the Superman shirt reveal thing haha.

Wonder how they'll react to the new Batwoman and Mia's return from the future.

Wonder why there was no sight of Alex though, but I did catch a glimpse of Chillblaine.

And the Wells from the ending must be Timeless Wells or it is just a flashback.

This won't be out until 4 weeks so plenty of time to still promote it.

You know...I wouldn't mind the DCTV universe "ending" it's regular seasons and returning for such events once a year.

@Blergh - Really at this point wouldn't mind if they just left Superman & Lois alone, out of crossovers and let it be a stand alone show, maybe crossover with Star Girl if they fully introduce the multiverse

@dracula - Just imagine:

"Ressurection" - a 5 episode event that sees Nekron ressurect various heroes and villains. Serves as a neat excuse to bring back many faces of the 'deceased'.

"The Legion of Doom" - sees the active heroes in the DCTV universe go up against the Legion of Doom that creates Bizarro.

"Reign of the Rogues" - Flash specific Rogue event series

"Empire of the Apes" - Grodd centric

"Injustice" - just the storyline in the context of the DCEU

all under the banner of "The Flash" or "Superman & Lois" of course but somehow like mini-series withing a larger one. Just like older Doctor Who storylines.

@Blergh -

That would be cool, not sure how to do that without Green Lanterns being introduced first (Guessing its blackest night)

Well we got the Legion Of Doom on Legends but yeah would be cool to see a more full version of the team.

They really should have used Captain Cold as a big bad before writing him off and give him a few more rogues.

Already kind of got that with the Attack On Gorilla City/Central City two parter

Crisis On earth x was kind of that already

Could work, although some of these seem too big for their budget, remember how Crisis on infinite earths turned out.

@dracula - @dracula - Yeah, the Lanterns are a pre-requisite. But that could be its own storyline leading up to it.

Just mapping out a potential idea here:

The Flash: Season 9
Episode 1-6: The Rise of the Lanterns (Diggle takes his place as earths next GL while defending earth from Parallax with a help from Barry)
Episode 6-12: Reign of the Rogues (using Captain Cold, Heatwave, Golden Glider, Captain Boomerang, Rainbow Raider, Pied Piper and Weather Wizard who are all controlled by Black Flash)
Episode 13-18: Ressurection (Nekron ressurects a bunch of heroes & villains as a grand season finale)

Superman & Lois: Season 3
Episode 1-6: The Legion of Doom (Reverse Flash joins forces with some of the most powerfull villains of the DCTV universe and creates Bizarro)
Episode 7-12: Injustice (Clark, without his powers, is transported into an alternate reality where he has turned into a despot. Meanwhile on our side of the universe his family trying to get him back).

Meanwhile Batwoman and Legends are foldet into these two shows and the casts work as "universe regulars" like Barrowman and McDonough did.

This looks surprisingly good and well shot compared to last season. Hopefully it is an improvement. Crossover looks good but hopefully we can see all the roster as a team and not just as guests per episode. Hall of Justice is back, that's awesome.

Wonder what reason they will give for Barry recruiting Mia to help. There are plenty of modern heroes that he knows better.

Also why its only these second stringers.

No Superman no supergirl, so strange. Especially since they basically formed the Justice league at the end of crisis

Man, I know it's never going to happen but I still hope that we one day find out that neither Merlyn nor Captain Boomerang died on the island

@Blergh - Post Crisis will surely allow us to see new updated versions. So far we haven't seen much of Damien Darhk here so it makes one wonder.

Captain Boomerang's return, for example, would be good.

@Blergh - I prefer to think Capt Boomerang died on the island and became Eclipso
