Despite being one of the most acclaimed comic book series in history, Neil Gaiman’s
Sandman has long struggled to make the jump from page to screen, with notable names like Joseph Gordon-Levitt failing to adapt the property.
However, after years of failed projects, Netflix has just signed a deal with Warner Bros. Television to adapt the beloved comic book into a live-action TV show.
According to
The Hollywood Reporter,
Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg will act as showrunner on the
Sandman series, while author Neil Gaiman and David Goyer (
The Dark Knight) serve as executive producers.
Furthermore, per the site’s sources, the deal between Netflix and Warner Bros. has been described
“as a massive financial commitment” and will make
Sandman the
“most expensive TV series” produced by DC Entertainment.
