Kathryn Hahn first played Agatha Harkness in WandaVision, and after failing to steal the Scarlet Witch's powers, she was trapped in Westview with no memories of her past. Or so it seemed.
The villain will return in Disney+'s Agatha: Coven of Chaos (previously titled Agatha: House of Harkness), and it sounds like this project will be an important next chapter for the wider MCU. In casting details shared by Murphy's Multiverse, it's said that the show is looking to cast an actor, aged 17-20, to play a gay lead character.
Described as "witty," "astute," and a "bit of a fanboy." The belief is this could be Billy Kaplan, a.k.a. Wiccan, a.k.a. Billy Maximoff in the MCU. In the comics, Billy - who grew up with another family unaware that he was the Scarlet Witch's son - was such a fan of Thor that he styled himself after the God of Thunder and his fellow Asgardians when he became Wiccan.
Common sense says Tommy (who was also brought up by a different family after his soul was freed to inhabit another child) will also appear, taking on the moniker of Speed. That's yet to be confirmed.
Most interesting, however, is the fact that Marvel Studios is looking to cast another actor aged 18-20 to play a gay male. Described as having a "kind soul" with a "great sense of humour," he's supposedly totally in love with his boyfriend and has an athletic build. That sounds an awful lot like Teddy Altman, a half-human, half-Kree teenager known as Hulkling.
That may be three Young Avengers we see in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, and their long-overdue Earth-616 introductions mean the stage could be set for everything from Scarlet Witch to The Children's Crusade and Young Avengers.
We'll have to wait and see how things pan out. This is definitely exciting, though, and the logical next step for Marvel Studios as they lay the groundwork for a new era of superheroes.
