Marvel Studios appears to be slowing down its yearly output, with 2023 Disney+ TV shows like Ironheart and Agatha: Coven of Chaos slipping into 2024. The latter is still shooting, of course, and will see Kathryn Hahn reprise her WandaVision role as Agatha Harkness.
Very little is known about the series, but with Kristen and Bobby Lopez penning songs for the spin-off, we're expecting it to feature several musical numbers.
That may well be what star Aubrey Plaza is teasing in a new Instagram post. As you can see below, she recently shared the logo of a project titled "The Darkhold Diaries." That brings to mind many a classic Disney fairy tale, with even the Marvel Studios font changed to resemble the classic Walt Disney logo.
We don't think this is a new MCU movie or TV show and, if anything, it's probably the name of an Agatha: Coven of Chaos episode. However, with so many scoopers strongly hinting that there's more to Plaza's character than meets the eye, perhaps this has something to do with the long-rumoured Mephisto Special Presentation?
Time will tell, but we're definitely intrigued Marvel Studios must have a good reason for shifting the spotlight back to a villain who was soundly defeated when she took on the Scarlet Witch.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos' supporting cast will feature a number of familiar faces from WandaVision, including Emma Caulfield Ford (Sarah Proctor), Debra Jo Rupp (Sharon Davis), David Payton (John Collins), David Lengel (Harold Proctor), Asif Ali (Abilash Tandon), Amos Glick (Dennis), Brian Brightman (Sheriff Miller), and Kate Forbes (Evanora Harkness).
New additions include Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, and Maria Dizzia.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos is currently expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in late 2023 or, more likely, early 2024.
