An Agatha: Coven of Chaos cast member has spilled some new details on the upcoming Disney+ WandaVision spin-off, and while it's nothing too revealing as far as the overall plot goes, we're pretty sure the Marvel snipers may be on standby all the same!
While appearing on The View (via The Wrap), the legendary Patti LuPone revealed the identity of her character, as well as Joe Locke’s - and it doesn't sound like the Heartstopper alum is playing Wiccan after all!
“Well it’s a coven of witches, and I play Lilia Calderu, who apparently is in the Marvel world,” LuPone told the hosts. “And I researched her, she’s hot! She’s really hot! She is! She’s got a great body, raven hair.”
In the comics, Calderu was a powerful with who was tasked with guarding the Book of Cagliostro. She was seduced by Baron Mordo, who stole the book. Lilia later formed an uneasy alliance with Doctor Strange.
As for Locke, LuPone says he's playing "The Familiar."
“We are a coven of witches, and the witches are Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza, and the familiar — if anybody knows Heartstopper — is Joe Locke,” she added. “And Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, and myself. And I play Lilia Calderu, a 450-year-old Sicilian witch, whose power is divination, and whose trial is tarot.”
We can hear Kevin Feige dialling!
Coven of Chaos will focus on powerful witch Agatha Harkness, who almost managed to defeat the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) in the season finale of WandaVision before being bested and trapped in Westview in her "nosy neighbour Agnes" persona.
Though Olsen is not expected to appear, there's speculation that Wanda might have something to do with Harkness' release and/or reformation following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Jac Schaeffer, who is under a joint overall deal with Marvel and 20th Television, will serve as writer and executive producer and will also helm multiple episodes along with Gandja Monteiro (Wednesday; The Chi) and Rachel Goldberg (Cloak & Dagger; Mayans M.C.)
