WandaVision put the spotlight on Wanda Maximoff's transformation into the Scarlet Witch, though fans were shocked (and more than a little disappointed) to see her become a full-blown villain in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The Avenger managed to somewhat redeem herself once all was said and done, but her fate remains a mystery.
While a flash of red light seemed to suggest she had escaped being crushed beneath the Darkhold Castle on Mount Wundagore, Marvel Studios' plans for Wanda are unclear.
There's been some chatter online about a solo Scarlet Witch movie but before we reach that point, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries is set to premiere on Disney+ later this year. The show will primarily focus on what became of Agatha Harkness after she was left trapped in Westview but we also expect to see Billy Maximoff, a.k.a. Wiccan, put front and centre.
According to scooper @CanWeGetToast, Wanda will be presumed dead throughout the series. However, when Agatha is asked directly by another character whether Wanda is really dead, she supposedly responds with, "If you want straight answers, ask a straight witch" (Agatha's ex-wife will be introduced in the show).
It's previously been reported that a Special Presentation exploring The Witches' Road will shed more light on the Scarlet Witch's MCU future. Whether Elizabeth Olsen has shot anything is unknow, though she very much remains in the Marvel Studios fold after recently lending her voice to the Disney+ animated series, What If...?
Beyond that, we're expecting to see her in both Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Given Wanda's experience with the Multiverse and her immense power level, we're sure she'll be crucial when Earth's Mightiest Heroes assemble to fight Kang the Conqueror...or whoever takes that villain's place as this Saga's big bad!
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries - which is rumoured to eventually be retitled Agatha All Along - will feature the return of many familiar faces from WandaVision, including Emma Caulfield Ford (Sarah Proctor), Debra Jo Rupp (Sharon Davis), David Payton (John Collins), David Lengel (Harold Proctor), Asif Ali (Abilash Tandon), Amos Glick (Dennis), Brian Brightman (Sheriff Miller), and Kate Forbes (Evanora Harkness).
Kathryn Hahn will lead the cast, of course, while other noteworthy additions include Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Patti LuPone, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, and Maria Dizzia.
What do you hope to see from the Scarlet Witch in the MCU moving forward?
