With its low ratings and its star Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger) signing on for the lead role in Conviction, a new ABC pilot, things were looking quite bleak for the future of Marvel's first female-led television series Agent Carter, however, that may not be the case for much longer.
It's probably best to take this next bit of news with a grain of salt, but according to sources for Nerd Reactor, ABC has indeed decided to renew the well-received series for a third season. However, before fans can start jumping up in joy and celebrating, it should be noted that in ComicBook's follow-up report, they learned that while there may be truth to the original story, Season 3 is "not a done deal" quite yet.
Now, it's a waiting game to see what happens to Hayley Atwell's beloved 'Peggy Carter' or if her rumored cameo in Captain America: Civil War will be her final bow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter before the second season finale last Tuesday, Atwell spoke on leaving the door open for a potential season three: "I'm really satisfied with where it ends and what happens to Peggy. I'm proud of this season, so if we get the opportunity to work on it again, then brilliant. Because then I'm sure I'll have even more fun working on it than I did in season two which was a lot. I don't quite know how to top that. But I'd love the opportunity to try. ... The writers have very elegantly put together this ending. I definitely want more."
So, what do you guys think? To renew or not to renew? Where would you want to see a potential Season 3 go? Sound off with your thoughts below!
