We recently learned that Marvel Studios will release all episodes (we still don't know how many there will be) of Echo on November 29. It's a new approach to MCU content on Disney+, and potentially Bob Iger's way of seeing what these shows actually do for the streamer's subscriber count.
It remains to be seen how important Echo is to the wider MCU, but some new story details have found their way online today.
According to a reliable social media scooper, Maya Lopez will have superpowers and is set to unleash them through tattoos that manifest on her hands. On the page, Echo had no extra abilities before being bonded with the Phoenix Force, and that's something the show appears to be pulling inspiration from.
However, the live-action of Maya will make use of powers that are tied to her Choktaw ancestors.
In related news, it's also said that one of Echo's flashbacks will revolve around Wilson Fisk offering Maya some advice following the death of her father at Ronin's hands. This is a good reminder that The Kingpin survived The Blip and likely used that time to consolidate his power in New York City.
As for whether Daredevil was among those blipped, that remains to be seen.
The origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox), whose ruthless behaviour in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.
As noted, all episodes of Echo will premiere on Disney+ on November 29.
