The Falcon and The Winter Soldier put the spotlight on the budding friendship between Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, but for many fans, they would prefer it be a budding romance.
In an interview with Variety, actor Sebastian Stan was asked about that, and while speculation about Bucky being bisexual has been debunked, he's okay with fans seeing this dynamic however they like. "I’m just happy that the relationship is embraced, and it should be embraced in whatever way or fashion that people desire and want it to be."
It seems highly unlikely that Marvel Studios plans to head down this route with the new Captain America and the Winter Soldier, though the MCU could certainly do with more LGBTQ+ characters!
In the same interview, Stan revealed that he injured his ankle on the first day of shooting while jumping from a dock onto the boat for a scene in episode five. "I just landed and twisted my ankle so badly that I thought it was broken. Like I actually couldn’t walk on it."
Thankfully, it wasn't broken, but The Falcon and The Winter Soldier star did break his pinky toe following a late-night visit to the bathroom. As you might expect, that made shooting a little tricky. "In between the takes when we had to do the set-ups, I would run upstairs and two people would help me out of this boot and I would just take my foot and put it in a bucket of ice."
We don't know what the plan is for Bucky from here, but he has a clean slate, and definitely the potential to do more in the MCU moving deeper into Phase 4.
Unfortunately for some fans, though, romancing Cap probably isn't part of it!
