The Falcon and The Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie recently appeared on The Daily Show and talked to host Trevor Noah about the intense training regime that comes with playing a Marvel superhero.
Talking specifically about the work that goes into being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Mackie said it takes him around four months to get into shape and indicated that he's already in the process of preparing for his next appearance. This comes shortly after his character, Sam Wilson, became Captain America in the finale of that aforementioned Disney+ series.
"You take the four months," he said. "Like right now, I am at the end of the first month of the four-month process to get back away from fat Mackie to movie Mackie."
It's possible the actor was talking in general terms about another upcoming project, but as Marvel was the topic of conversation, it seems likely that he's prepping to suit up as Captain America again. In terms of what's going to be in production a few months from now, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and She-Hulk instantly come to mind, though it's always hard to say for sure.
Captain America 4 is a long way off shooting, though it would be strange for Marvel Studios not to do something with the new Cap before then, anyway. So far, only fans who have tuned into the Disney+ TV shows have met him, so a big screen introduction before that fourth film feels right.
