THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER: Marvel Studios Producer Nate Moore Debunks Black Panther Cameo Speculation

There's been speculation that Chadwick Boseman's final appearance as Black Panther will be in next week's episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, but producer Nate Moore has now debunked this theory.

Despite what happened during WandaVision's nine episodes, fans have gotten themselves into something of a frenzy about the big cameo that's been teased for episode five of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. All we really know is that it's a noteworthy actor who will be playing someone from the comic books (without setting up a future movie).

During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore was asked about the theories circulating online about Chadwick Boseman potentially having shot one final appearance as Black Panther for the Disney+ series. It does make sense when you stop and think about it, especially given Wakanda's unexpected role in how the story has unfolded.

"No. I can say. That is not going to happen," Moore said, confirming T'Challa will not appear in the series. "I would be honest if it was. Chad's passing is a whole life thing, and I loved the guy as much as the character."

Interestingly, he then added: "I think we have to be very careful and thoughtful about when he appears because he meant so much to a lot of people as much as he meant to us. But yeah, we wouldn't use that as a ‘Come next week; maybe you’ll see Panther!’ We wouldn't, and he's not."

That makes it sound like there may be enough footage for Marvel Studios to do something with Boseman following his tragic death last year, but it remains to be seen what that might be.

As for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, we'll keep you updated as we learn more about this cameo.

Pretty much what I expected, I also feel like even if he was originally in it they would have reshot it. Theres a lot of rumors they edited out a pandemic storyline so they arent opposed to changing things when necessary. I think the only place if any we see T'challa again would be briefly in Black Panther 2

@Ha1frican - its weird to me that everyone wants to edit out and change pandemic storylines now. I'd have thought they would double down on those and they would become much more popular because people are more afraid of them

@Nightwing1015 - People watch Marvel movies as a form of escapism. It’s bad enough we’ve all had to go through this BS in real life, people don’t want to be reminded of it when they go to watch superhero movies.

@Nightwing1015 - I look at that as more that people are just sick of hearing about it. A lot of us spent months on end stuck in our houses hearing about a pandemic all day every day, the last thing I want to see right now is that bc i'm just sick of it. At the start of the pandemic sure I and many others had it on the brain but I think now its just an oversaturated topic, and while we shouldnt ignore it in real life bc its still very much a thing I'd rather my entertainment focus on something else.

Good to know. I wasn't really expecting it, but now I can definitely rule it out.

Wonder who it's gonna be though. Kinda hoping for a young Isaiah Bradley flashback.

@grif - The Dora Milaje were in the last episode trying to take Zemo back to Wakanda.

I thought it was common knowledge that his last performance was confirmed to be in What If...?

@ChimiFnChangas - Yeah but as soon as someone gets the idea that the character should appear in a film/show, they're gonna keep telling people that. Hence how rumours start.

@ChimiFnChangas - technically that would still leave the possibility of this appearance since it would release first.

I loved Chadwick, when you look back he was really a great actor coming into his own groove. Still a little shocked about his death, definitely one of the most surprising of recent times.

But I really dislike the mentality of T’Challa (NOT Boseman) being this Voldemort thing right now, he who shall not be named... I understand that’s out of respect for Chadwick. I don’t want Black Panther to show up next week, but I still want the character to be in the MCU?

Chadwick always knew they had something special. He and every part of me is convinced he wouldn’t want to let the story of T’Challa and the characters rise to die with him. He knew what carrying on the baton means, especially after his beautiful speech to Denzel Washington.

Anyway, I hope it all works out in the end and the pay off is great for Chadwick in his memory.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - I think thats largely bc this was already deep in production when he died, and bc BP2 hasnt fully been figured out yet. If this had started filming after his death maybe they wouldnt leave it quite so open but what we are seeing now is kind of still and after image from last year in a lot of ways

@Ha1frican - Yeah I get everything in regards to this show - my comment was mainly aimed at projects moving forward.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - Yeah I feel you, we just arent really going to get anything Wakanda adjacent really until BP2 so theres not really a good place to talk about him. We are getting

-Black Widow: Potential for mention of him but thats a stretch at best
-SHang-Chi: Same thing
-Eternals: Seems to be kind of its own thing like Guardians
-Spider-man No Way Home: Seems packed already but maybe a Shuri reference
-Thor Love and Thunder: Probably its own thing bc its in space

and then after that is Black Panther 2 so they are in this weird spot where after this it really doesnt even make sense to talk about BP until the second movie

I'm glad they shut down the speculation that the cameo would be Chadwick Boseman. He would deserve a better final appearance than a cameo in a tv show.

My gueses are that:

A) Sharon Carter is the Power Broker - the way she strolls past all of the armed guards in episode 4 (13:45 or so), she's obviously someone with a lot more influence and power than she's let on.

B) I'm really hoping the much-hyped cameo is Luke Cage. His origin and backstory would tie into the already established themes of the series (super soldier experimentation, racial issues) and he's a very grounded character. Bringing him in, especially if they kept Mike Colter as the actor, would be a start to tying the Netflix shows back into MCU continuity, something they're already rumored to be doing with Charlie Cox showing up as Matt Murdock in the upcoming Spider-man.

@neenah1971 - Sharon Carter's not the power broker. She is afraid of him / her. She got her face smashed up by the power broker. Go back and watch her scenes. She probably works for an organization or started her own organization that is trying to stop the power broker. I do think she has a boss. She was on the phone with someone when she got into the car. Maybe it was another spy/ agent.
