Vera Farmiga has been a prolific presence on the big and small screens ever since her breakout role in 2006's The Departed, but Disney+'s upcoming Hawkeye series will mark the actress' first foray into the superhero world.
We found out last year that Farmiga, who can currently be seen reprising the role of Lorraine Warren in The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, had joined the cast of the Marvel miniseries as Eleanor Bishop, the criminally-inclined mother of Clint Barton's protege (and possible replacement) Kate Bishop. While speaking to ET Online about her first trip to the MCU, Farmiga was full of praise for costar Hailee Steinfeld.
“Hailee kills it in the role. Kate Bishop's coming up, and I play her mama and I had a blast. It's going to be pretty special, I think.”
In the comics, Eleanor was the matriarch of a wealthy Manhattanite family who faked her own death. She later reemerged and was revealed to be behind the criminal machinations of her daughter's nemesis, Madame Masque. Whether the character follows a similar path on the show remains to be seen, but, as far as we know, Giuletta Nefaria will not factor into the series. Could Eleanor end up under the Masque instead?
You can get a first look at Farmiga in-character in some set photos from last year down below.
Hawkeye will also feature Alaqua Cox, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, and Zahn McClarnon. It's been confirmed that Florence Pugh will return as her Black Widow character, Yelena Belova.
The show is expected to premiere on Disney+ before the end of the year.
