HAWKEYE: Clint Barton's Past Catches Up To Him In The First Trailer And Poster For The Disney+ Series

Marvel Studios has dropped the first trailer and poster for Hawkeye, and Clint Barton finds himself with an unexpected new partner as his past - in the form of Ronin - finally starts to catch up with him!

Clint Barton lost his entire family when Thanos wiped out half the universe, and that led to him becoming Ronin. The Punisher-like vigilante tore his way through the criminal underworld, taking out the evildoers who managed to survive while his wife and children did not. Hawkeye is going to tackle that head-on, though, something that's evident from this awesome first trailer.

Hawkeye is just trying to enjoy the holidays with his kids, but when a new Ronin emerges, the archer is forced back into action...and it's then he meets Kate Bishop.

The show looks like a lot of fun, and that Christmas setting should help give Hawkeye a unique feel. The last time we spent the holidays in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was 2013's Iron Man 3, and that was only because filmmaker Shane Black tends to set his movies during the Christmas period.

There aren't too many big surprises in this sneak peek, but "Rogers: The Musical?" Sign us up!

"Set in post-blip New York City, former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero," reads the synopsis. "The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit."

Starring Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, Hawkeye also features Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez. Helmed by Rhys Thomas and directing duo Bert and Bertie, Hawkeye debuts exclusively on Disney+ on November 24, 2021.

@BlackBeltJones - Disney Themepark attraction. Also Shang-Chi bus fight. Marvel come hire me.

@Waddles - honestly it's just a matter of time before the inevitable Avengers Broadway musical.

@Waddles -

What if this is what Chris Evans is secretly engaged in talks with Marvel to film?!

@Waddles - hopefully with less injured people this time.

@Waddles - I was looking for a April Ludgate laughs gif, but might of gotten way-laid:

It's all Marvel. Wanda. Legion. It's fine.

@BlackBeltJones - The Shang-Chi idea sadly isn't mine, but can't remember who mentioned it. It would work in a very visceral way - doesn't require Simu(?), maybe throw in an Iron Fist for jokes & the onsite Dora Milaje could come break up the fight, as a little nod to the inter-connectivity of Marvel.

Probably needs to be a bigger bus as well to avoid injuries that Simu complained about, but could be a normal on site bus?

@Waddles - "Lizzie... not in public!"

I hope they're about as happy as a lot of shippers, probably are! ;D

@Spidey91 - Marvel Studios have already won Oscars, Grammys, and now Emmys. Might as well go for a Tony at some point.

Looks good man, like the Christmas theme of it as well.

Still waiting for the Marvel Studios TV shows to hit the height of Daredevil for me personally, where I couldn't wait to watch the next episode.

I love the movies, watched Shang Chi last week and had a great time.

@SimplyAz - it feels like Marvel's version of "Planes, Trains and Automobiles"

Now I can get behind that.
Love Steve Martin, have been enjoying his new show Only Murders in the Building with Martin Short

@SimplyAz - just working my way thought Daredevil season 3 again after having revisited season 2 and the Defenders recently. Only WandaVision is anywhere near as good to be honest. The slightly darker edge and more serious feel in the Netflix shows is just perfect.

@Spike101 -

That's cool you re-watched them.
I think in Daredevil you always feel Matt's desperation and it always felt that he was truly up against it.
A lot of emotion in the show and loved the fight choreography

@SimplyAz - I haven't been that enthusiastic about these shows, either, even though I've seen them all. Loki was the most disappointing. What's interesting is that What If...? is the first MCU TV show that didn't hit the Top Ten in Nielson ratings.

@Battabingg -

I was hoping they'd just grab me and not let me go.
Especially Falcon and Winter Soldier, while I thought it was Good, didn't reach that level of Great for me.
I'm only halfway through Loki, while I think it's interesting I haven't gone back yet

@SimplyAz - yes exactly that is a very good point, I always struggle to put my finger on why they are so good and yes it’s partly because you get the deep down emotion of these characters. Elektra being just slightly crazy, the slow burn of Fisk’s schemes and of course Mat’s conflicting emotions. Bliss

It’s still wild to me that Marvel is keeping that Hawkeye logo/font for this show. I love that run in the comics, so I like the callback and all but yeesh it looks so kiddie
nmasterofnaught
nmasterofnaught - 9/13/2021, 6:17 AM
@blacksocksdaily - Interesting point. I think this may not go down so well with a lot of MCU detractors, but it is based on the incredible Fraction so...

@nmasterofnaught - it doesn’t really matter what it’s based on. This trailer looked like a freaking kids holiday special. What the hell. Hawkeye has all the potential for a gritty Netflix style show, and they’ve settled for a Christmas special. Ouch.
nmasterofnaught
nmasterofnaught - 9/13/2021, 12:45 PM
@globaltravels - It's Marvel, it's supposed to be fun. I thought they may dive into the Ronin arc & aftermath, but i'll be honest I much prefer the Die Hard-esque rigmarole.

Just watch Daredevil again if you want. I imagine if this isn't well received they may go down that route in any further adventures.

Alright, I really like the tagline on the poster. Made me smile. Trailer looks interesting to say the least. Something different from Marvel is always at the very least interesting. On the list to watch definitely.
