The first two episodes of Hawkeye are now streaming on Disney+, and while we've been left with plenty to discuss, Rogers The Musical has also been generating a lot of attention online.

Clint Barton may not have been very impressed, but that catchy song, "Save The City," has now been released in its entirety. Composed by Marc Shaiman with lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, it's available here or can be listened to in the player below. It's a fun tune, and we can't help but hope that there are plans to revisit the musical later in the season for another song or two.

"We were in the middle of the very worst part of the pandemic," Wittman recently told Marvel.com. "When we were writing it was like when people would go and bang on pots and pans for the hospital workers, first responders. It all seemed to fit into the universe that we were writing to. So, the notion of ‘someone please save New York,’ was the battle cry of [the song]."

The Hawkeye: Vol. 1 (Episodes 1-3) soundtrack with a score composed by Christophe Beck and Michael Paraskevas is set to be released on December 10 and will be followed by Hawkeye: Vol. 2 (Episodes 4-6) with a score by Christophe Beck on December 24.

Check out "Save The City" from the first episode of Hawkeye below:

I haven’t cringed so hard in years, which is why it was perfect and hilarious because you felt exactly as Clint did on the inside hahaha. So, so bad.

Who didn't see this release coming? It was a little too meta for me; as people have said before, how do these in-universe song writers know all the catchphrases that were said during the battle? I guess there are in-universe explanations but it just seems a bit precious to me. Also the rhymes are school boy at best.

@RealTurner - Are you seriously criticising 'Loki, you don't belong. So get gone!'?

Reminds me somewhat of Leonard Cohen or early Dylan.

@RealTurner - that is how some musicals work with rhymes

@dragon316 - I mean, the Hamilton Effect has ruined pretty much everything. It damaged In The Heights for me and that was written by the same guy. At least trying to make the verses tell a story would have helped; I guess they fluffed it out to make a full song without putting too much effort in to the stuff that wouldn't be on screen. The first four lines say almost nothing.

@Orphix - "this state we're in" - you mean the alien invasion? Is that a "state" you get "into"?

I haven't been exposed to Broadway culture before, so I don't know if it was meant to be intentionally bad so that we feel what Hawkeye is feeling. In any case, this is not for me.

@Fares - depends person you go to broad show you like you will like it you go to Brad way show you don’t like you will hate immediately,

Broadways shows are not for everyone it’s different take on entertainment if there’s broadway show that’s made you like cats, phantom, wicked, others check it out otherwise don’t bother

I like phantom of opera phantom broad way is good I always wanted see wicked and frozen on broadway.,

@Fares - I think it's meant to be campy but the writers sound suspiciously sincere.
Kingdork
Kingdork - 11/25/2021, 9:19 AM
@RealTurner - It was meant to be campy and corny but also believable and earnest as a Broadway piece. And it was.
RealTurner
RealTurner - 11/25/2021, 10:21 AM
@Kingdork - I agree. I think it's very well done overall (and far too well done for how long it is there, but that's how Marvel rolls). Just a little too winky and a bit vacant as a song on it's own - aliens at attacking. A bit more urgency. A bit more setting of the scene. But now I'm asking for an actual Rogers musical and not a bit piece in Hawkeye, which this fitted into perfectly.

@RealTurner - You're taking this way, way too seriously.
RealTurner

@dmac3232 - It's how I roll. People might say "why don't you sit back and just enjoy it" - this is how I enjoy stuff. Not attacking it. Just analyzing it.

I'll be one to say, the banging on pots and pans and shooting off fireworks at the early part of the pandemic, consistently at 7pm for several months, was utterly obnoxious, and vastly overstayed its welcome. Just a bunch of NYC jerkoffs with nothing better to do with their time, after the first several months.

Now that I think about it it’s wierd how much Cap worship there is in the MCU at the moment, between this musical and the Statue of Steverty. He’s the leader of the Avengers and definetely the most heroic of heart, but he didnt really do that much in the final battle in any of the Avengers movies, and in Endgame in particular. Tony snapped Thanos and his army away, and sacrificed himself, and Hulk unsnapped everyone and saved half the universe. Cap was just kinda… there and plucky. And in the first Avengers Tony sacrificed himself and flew the nuke through the wormhole. You’d think they’d be turning the statue into Ironman? Not that it bothers me I love em both. But its odd.

Another thing I’m curious about… public love of the Avengers. I know they saved everyone in the end so thats not suprising but I wonder if people hated em after the snap before everyone was brought back, for failing to bring down Thanos. And in the first Avengers, the whole drama WAS caused by one of their brothers, so oops. And in the second, Ultron was all their fault so everyone who died was kinda on them. Just be interesting to see some JJ Jameson superhero blame on the Avengers, now that he’s in their world!

@connorblaze - look at it from this prospective fans want black widow movie they got it but black widow and Hawkeye are only normal human characters with no powers no super suits to fight with doesn’t explain popularity of each character they both fight same way one born and raised in russia and other born raised in america one assassin one is not

@connorblaze - you actually raise some good points. If they were real, I think I'd be pretty pro-Sokovia Accords

@connorblaze - Cap has been there since World War II, where was Tony? He also literally represents America as well.

I liked his reaction when he sees "Natasha" but no so much when he sees that "Thanos was right".

Like, i get it but...you know what i mean?

Also, the sound editing kinda sucked.

Just nitpickin.

Kind of surprised at some of the comments on here, although maybe I shouldn't be. This was obviously a parody of what a Broadway show would be concerning the events of the first Avengers movie and not an actual real show. Personally it cracked me up and I did feel for poor Hawkeye having to sit through it. On the other hand I had to give props for the whole production crew cuz this is just a six-episode series and the time and effort they put into this scene deserves nothing but praise for all concerned.

I thought it was a pretty fun moment. Definitely felt the awkwardness through the screen. Do wonder why they went to the musical though.

@bkmeijer -seemed like the kids wanted to do all the typical NEW YORK THINGS during Christmas. I think a broadway show fits in. They mentioned seeing the big Christmas tree too.
