HAWKEYE Star Hailee Steinfeld Talks Jeremy Renner's Recovery And Teases Her Return As Kate Bishop

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse star Hailee Steinfeld has discussed Jeremy Renner's ongoing recovery following his accident earlier this year, while also teasing her MCU return as Kate Bishop/Hawkeye.

Hailee Steinfeld is one of the only actors to play two Marvel superheroes simultaneously as the MCU's new Hawkeye and the Spider-Verse's Spider-Gwen.

She'll reprise the latter role in this summer's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, though there have been no updates about Marvel Studios' possible plans for a second season of Hawkeye. Even if it was in the works, the series has likely been indefinitely delayed following Jeremy Renner's accident earlier this year, an incident which very nearly cost the actor his life.

During an interview at CinemaCon earlier this week, Steinfeld confirmed she's been in touch with Renner since his near-miss back in January.

"I have [spoken to him]. I'm going to get emotional talking about it," she admits. "I'm so grateful that he's okay. He's truly made a miraculous recovery. I go back to thinking about how excited I was just to meet him and then I realized very quickly, I can't believe I'm going to admit this but I will for Jeremy: as Kate Bishop is to Clint [Barton], I am that way with Jeremy."

"I just couldn't be more grateful that he's okay. He's more than okay. He's such a fighter."

Steinfeld was also asked if she knows when and where Kate Bishop will return to the MCU and gave a cheeky smile before saying, "Maybe."

We're guessing Marvel Studios has given the busy actor a heads up about when they'll need her and we're hoping it will be before Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (though that movie does seem the most likely upcoming project for her to take centre stage in).

Check out both interviews with Steinfeld below.

I'm guessing he shows up for Secret Wars and the whole theater will blow the roof off

Need to see them reunite, this time on the big screen. Let them lead the Avengers.

@WakandanQueen - I'm still holding on to the hope (pun intended) that Wasp leads the Avengers. Though it's becoming less likely with every movie that comes out.

@TheManWithoutFear - Yea, I used to want that too, but they haven't really done anything with Hope since... well, 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp.

@WakandanQueen - They did her dirty in Quantumania. She felt more like a featured extra than a character that literally has her name in the movie title.

@TheManWithoutFear - Wasp leading the Avengers… I’ve considered it and don’t like it.

Love her as Kate Bishop. Wherever she shows up next i hope Yelena is involved. It would be cool if we find out they have been hanging out off-screen this whole time and are like best friends next time we see them. With Steve and Bucky gone the MCU needs more strong friendship relationships. Plus it would mirror the close relationship between Clint and Nat.

@TheManWithoutFear - you make a great point about MCU relationships. I really enjoyed all the fellowships that were formed in the earlier films as well. It grounds the characters a little bit, and is quite fun to see them interact. I'd be really happy seeing Kate and Yelena show back up with some more miles on their friendship too.

Her? I beg to differ.
