LOVE AND MONSTERS Star Jessica Henwick Says There Was Talk Of A DAUGHTERS OF THE DRAGON Series - EXCLUSIVE

Love and Monsters premieres at home and in select theaters on October 16th from Paramount Pictures, and takes place seven years after the "Monsterpocalypse." Humanity has been forced to hide underground, but Joel (Dylan O'Brien) decides to embark on a dangerous mission to reunite with his high school girlfriend Aimee (Jessica Henwick) after reconnecting with her over the radio. However, with dangerous monsters standing in his way, their reunion isn't going to be an easy one.

Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2) and Ariana Greenblatt (Avengers: Infinity War) are also part of the cast, and we recently caught up with Jessica to discuss her role in the movie.

We'll bring you the full interview soon, but it goes without saying that we had to ask the Iron Fist alum about Netflix's decision to cancel the series, and the way things were left with Colleen Wing the last time we saw her (she had gained the powers of the Iron Fist from Danny Rand).

"There had been very light discussions about Daughters of the Dragon happening which I would have loved because working opposite Simone [Missick] was such a dream, and I think she’s so talented and perfect for the role," Henwick confirmed, referring to a spinoff series revolving around Colleen and Luke Cage character Misty Knight.

"I do remember some very vague discussions, but you keep your fingers crossed and never know what’s going to happen in this industry," she continued. "I’m just glad I got to play such an incredible arc with Colleen and I feel very happy that we ended on such a high note for her."

A Daughters of the Dragon series would have been amazing, and a logical next step for Marvel Television and Netflix. Unfortunately, things changed with the launch of Disney+, and declining viewership numbers meant that all the Marvel shows on the streamer were cancelled one by one.

It's possible Marvel Studios will bring some of these characters back, and if they do, we hope that the Daughters of the Dragon are somewhere near the top of the list as they'd be a great fit for the MCU.

@dracula - would've kept things more interesting and fresh for me instead of second seasons to those shows

I think that was obvious that it was setup in the bar fight. I’m just not sure we’ll get those types of stories anymore. If None of the Netflix heroes crossover to the movies or Disney plus shows I think that will signify that Feige never really cared about those characters and that’s why they were allowed to be on Netflix in the first place.

Until my hopes are dashed, I’m still holding out for a surprise cameo.

Sad it didn't happen, frankly. They were great together. As long as people are embracing the multiverse angle, there's a big part of me that wishes the Netflix deal could have kept going, but obviously it wasn't just continuity standing in the way of that, it was much more to do with Disney's own streaming posture...

It might have been better that either Iron Fist or Luke Cage. As others said already they had great chemistry. Luke Cage was awesome at times, but not consistently good. Diamondback anyone?

They deserved it, I would have watched it. Misty and her mecha arm and Collen with her "Iron" chi katana.

Do them right Feige!
