Marvel Studios has released a new batch of stills from the series premiere of Loki, "Glorious Purpose," and these highlight some of the best moments from the villain's return to the MCU.

Owen Wilson's Mobius gets his fair share of the spotlight, something which is sure to delight fans of this Time Variance Authority agent. Hunter B-15 also shows up, but Loki is definitely the main focus. This opening episode took a deep dive into what makes the God of Mischief tick, redeeming him to at least some extent before opening the door to a new era of storytelling with the character.

We still have a lot of questions about the TVA, but answers are likely coming in future episodes.

In Loki, the imperious God of Mischief, who, after absconding with the Tesseract, is a fish-out-of-water when he lands in a world of trouble with the bureaucratic TVA (Time Variance Authority) steps out of his brother’s shadow in a new series that takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Tom Hiddleston returns as the title character, joined by Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant. Kate Herron directs Loki, and Michael Waldron is head writer. After yesterday's premiere, the next episode of Loki will arrive on Disney+ next Wednesday.

In our review of the first two episodes, we concluded with, "Nothing can prepare you for Loki, a mind-bending dive into the Marvel Multiverse that takes everything you thought you knew about the MCU and turns it on its head for one of the most ambitious, craziest stories Marvel Studios has ever told."

@Reeds2Much - haven't checked a lot of Loki videos on youtube, but I imagine 9 out of 10 use that as the thumbnail

Loki calling out the TVA and Mobius was my favorite part. Loki might just be insecure, but he knows how to read the room

@bkmeijer - Yep! She played him by giving him reasons to think he was playing her. I LOVE that character!

I loved this episode. I'm really digging when Marvel actually just lets these characters talk. It's quite interesting. And the question of choice and agency was very engaging as well.

Loving the mystery killer angle too.

Guys so I was thinking, since the infinity stones are shown at the TVA to be meaningless and powerless, doesn’t that take away from Infinity War and Endgame ? I mean was the point of showing that to let the viewer know the TVA is a way higher power?
But if the stones mean nothing there, then what is reality ? What’s the point of them existing the universe if they’re going to be meaningless to the Space lizards who dictate everyone’s fate ?

Idk this show is making me think a lot and it’s bugging me haha

@MisterDoctor217 - You figure those are stones form multiple timelines.

My take: we know in the comics, the stones only have power in each of their own respective universes. They were delivered to different realities across the Multiverse. With the TVA being “outside of time” you figure the stones hold no power in a place that’s not within time or any respective reality.

Thus they can be paperweights.

@MisterDoctor217
I loved when they made fun of the Infinity stones by using em as paperweight. :3

Really tells you a lot, we're in the Endgame now!
I dunno, maybe it's the comicbook fan in me, but i feel like saying "c'mon man, we all knew this!"
The problems of one reality ain't shit compared to the Multiverse!

The time travel in Endgame was more than enough to prove how meaningless the stones are in the grand scheme of things.

Sooner or later this shit will bite em in the ass, it always does, but for now i just want to know what they mean when they talk about Multiverse.

There was a Marvel Universe where the X-Men were part of the Golden age of Superheroes among the other Marvel characters such as F4, Avengers etc...

Steve fought wars with Logan on his side.
Bobby used to roll with Spidey and Firestar.
GotG used to chill with the Starjammers.
Red Skull got BTFO by Magnus.

But that reality got lost...erased, in that old ass Multiversal War.
But what if we could bring those characters back? At least the X-Men?

Just imagine.

That's more or less what happened during DC Rebirth/DClock.
Things is...the Hypertime is more of a DC concept, Multiverse too, not like the Marvel Universe can't play with it too, but you know...

Maaan, i'm hella curious.
