Marvel Studios has released a new batch of stills from the series premiere of Loki, "Glorious Purpose," and these highlight some of the best moments from the villain's return to the MCU.
Owen Wilson's Mobius gets his fair share of the spotlight, something which is sure to delight fans of this Time Variance Authority agent. Hunter B-15 also shows up, but Loki is definitely the main focus. This opening episode took a deep dive into what makes the God of Mischief tick, redeeming him to at least some extent before opening the door to a new era of storytelling with the character.
We still have a lot of questions about the TVA, but answers are likely coming in future episodes.
In Loki, the imperious God of Mischief, who, after absconding with the Tesseract, is a fish-out-of-water when he lands in a world of trouble with the bureaucratic TVA (Time Variance Authority) steps out of his brother’s shadow in a new series that takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
Tom Hiddleston returns as the title character, joined by Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant. Kate Herron directs Loki, and Michael Waldron is head writer. After yesterday's premiere, the next episode of Loki will arrive on Disney+ next Wednesday.
In our review of the first two episodes, we concluded with, "Nothing can prepare you for Loki, a mind-bending dive into the Marvel Multiverse that takes everything you thought you knew about the MCU and turns it on its head for one of the most ambitious, craziest stories Marvel Studios has ever told."
