Idris Elba Confirms That He Once Spoke To Marvel About Playing LUKE CAGE
A live-action version of Luke Cage is coming in one of Netflix's planned series', but Idris Elba won't reveal whether he'll be playing him! He does however confirm that he once spoke to Marvel about the character, dismisses Jurassic World rumours and again shows his enthusiasm to play 007...
"For Halloween, I wore Superman. And I was like, "I don't mind this cape being behind me. [laughs]...But, no, other than that, I don't really have any superhero that I like," Idris Elba told The Huffington Post when they asked him whether or not he's still interested in taking on a bigger role than Heimdall in Thor: The Dark World in a future comic book movie. "There was talk about Luke Cage at one time -- I thought Luke Cage was a pretty interesting character. They were going to do it, but I don't know what happened..." So, he's spoken to Marvel about playing Luke Cage at one point or another, but when the site mentioned plans to bring Cage to Netflix, Elba responded only with. "That's right, yeah." After The Wire and Luther, seeing the actor in a series such as this one would be undeniably awesome, but we'll have to wait and see if that happens!
One project that Idris Elba won't appearing in is Jurassic World, as he quickly dismissed recent reports - "No, it's just a rumor" - and actually seemed genuinely surprised that they're making another instalment in the franchise. When he was told that fans are still enthusiastic about him playing James Bond when Daniel Craig quits, he replied: "I say it all the time, but if it was to ever happen and if I was ever to get offered that role, that would be the will of a nation. That would be like, "Wow, human beings are really powerful. They really made that happen, because Barbra Broccoli certainly didn't" ... it would be the will of a nation because everyone has been saying that to me." What do you guys think?
