Marvel Studios (via EW) has debuted another new still from the upcoming Disney+ Secret Invasion series, and this time the focus is placed on a character who's been a mainstay in the MCU since Phase 1, James "Rhodey" Rhodes.
Don Cheadle will reprise the role, and while he's not expected to play a major part in this show, it sounds like he will be integral to the story.
When we catch up with Rhodey, aka War Machine, he will have graduated from Air Force colonel, and is now the "righthand to the president."
"In this one, he finds himself not directly at odds but somewhat on the other side of where Fury is," Cheadle teases. "Day one, we sat down and were like, 'This should have happened a long time ago, but it's great that it's happening now,'" he adds about getting to work opposite Samuel L. Jackson for the first time. "Sam's a good friend, and I've known him a long time. It was cool to be able to sit across from him and go back and forth."
Rhodey will finally get the spotlight in the Armor Wars movie (which was originally being developed as another Disney+ series), and while he was tight-lipped about when the film might be released, Cheadle did tease what we can expect.
"The fun part about it is that we're going to continue to explore Rhodey and — in some ways for the first time — get to see what makes him tick. We understand his physical challenges, but we haven't really yet dug into a lot of his emotional and psychological [challenges]."

Secret Invasion "follows Nick Fury as he uncovers a conspiracy to install double-agents into positions of power around the world: shapeshifting green-skinned extra-terrestrials known as Skrulls, who can perfectly simulate any human being at will."
The series also stars Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Emilia Clarke, and Kingsley Ben-Adir, and is set to premiere on June 21.
