SECRET INVASION Star Samuel L. Jackson Has Confirmed That The Marvel Studios Series Has Started Shooting

Cameras have finally started rolling on Secret Invasion, and Marvel Cinematic Universe veteran Samuel L. Jackson has confirmed that he's currently back at work as former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury...

While the Secret Invasion TV series heading to Disney+ seemingly won't have too much in common with the comic book of the same name, there's still a tonne of excitement surrounding the show.

Billed as more of an espionage thriller than an epic blockbuster, it sounds a lot like the focus will still very much be on what happens when shape-shifting Skrulls invade Earth. What sort of ramifications that will have for the future remains to be seen, but Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) are set to serve as Secret Invasion's leads.

Now, Jackson has taken to Instagram to confirm that shooting is underway on the project; needless to say, he doesn't share any hints about what we can expect, but makes his feelings clear by saying "#[frick]thatsnap" and pointing out he's "#backwithafury."

Secret Invasion will also star Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Killian Scott, and Christopher McDonald, though we don't have any official details on who they're playing. It's also unclear whether any bigger name superhero characters will show up, though this essentially being a Nick Fury solo series is certainly no bad thing.

We're expecting this one to drop on Disney+ sometime in late 2022 or early 2023.

@BigBoiJoe - Bud Spencer would have been the perfect Dum Dum Dugan for Hasslehoff's Nick Fury.

@BigBoiJoe - I don’t hate anyone, but let’s just say, David hasselhoff gets on my last frikkin nerve. One of those celebrities that I just can’t understand how they are still celebrated. The tiny bit of that nick fury movie that I saw was so bad. His 2 seconds on gotg, so aggravating. I liked him when he was surrounded by female lifeguards but soon as they were gone, he went from pimp, to pimple.

So how many shows are shooting right now? Feels like we'll be getting even more shows than this year, although Ironheart and Armor Wars haven't started shooting yet (as far as I know)

@bkmeijer - I think She-hulk and Moon Knight finish this month and Ms. Marvel already wrapped. Then there are like 3 movies filming also

Send in the Skrulllllllllls!

Honestly though, I'm a bit worried because the scope of a story like this should be so much bigger. I feel like there's no way to pull this off without it being hugely watered down.

But I hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

I really hope they use the chance to bring in some Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. characters for this.
