SECRET INVASION Star Samuel L. Jackson Teases Nick Fury Vs. Valentina Allegra de Fontaine In Future Project

Secret Invasion star Samuel L. Jackson reveals that Julia Louis-Dreyfuss has led him to believe a clash between Nick Fury and CIA Director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is in the works at Marvel Studios!

After S.H.I.E.L.D. fell in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Nick Fury took something of a backseat in the MCU. He returned to lend a helping hand in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but seemed content to let the world believe he's dead.

The former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director later showed up in Avengers: Infinity War, only to be immediately snapped out of existence by Thanos. He was resurrected thanks to the events of Avengers: Endgame, but Secret Invasion has made it clear the Mad Titan's actions have left a lasting impact on Fury.

While he's currently in the midst of attempting to repel an invasion of Skrull imposters, we know Fury will return in The Marvels later this year. Beyond that, Samuel L. Jackson seems convinced a clash with Julia Louis-Dreyfuss' CIA Director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is also on the horizon.

"I've talked to her about it already because she did a film with my wife that's coming out very soon," the actor tells The Wrap"She was sitting right behind me at the Oscars. So she kept poking me, saying, 'We're gonna fight, we're gonna fight.' So, I guess she already knows something I don't know. But she's just starting something anyway."

Could Fury return in Thunderbolts? It's certainly possible, but once that team is established - and perhaps becomes more akin to the MCU's "Dark Avengers" - then there's a chance Nick will assemble his own team to stop them and the power-hungry Val.

It's hard to say right where we're heading, particularly in the midst of the Multiverse Saga. While Kang the Conqueror remains an ever-present threat, it appears Marvel Studios is also laying the groundwork for another, much smaller story about Val's secret machinations and even a possible World War Hulk project.

We'll see, but it makes all the sense in the world for Fury to be the one who takes Val down a peg or two.

The Marvels is set to be released in theaters on November 10.

is it just me or is the MCU going in 100 different directions? Phase 1-3 were all focused on building up to and stopping Thanos. it worked to perfection.

this phase and the "future" phases are all over the map.

Kang multiverse threat
Secret invasion --- who knows where that goes
Marvels ---- who knows where that goes
Echo, DD, Agatha, Ironheart, Whitevision etc ---- all the Disney+ shows.... where the hell are they leading
Deadpool 3 ---- multiverse but could be anything really
Thunderbolts, Cap 4 --- what are they building/leading up to?

there is just sooooo many threads that don't seem to connect to anything and it's tiring, really. Like as simple as phase 1-3 were at least there was a plan. Right now i feel like everything is just a massive mess like spaghetti and i have no clue wtf is going on... else that is "the plan"... confuse the audience and explain it all later?

@MotherGooseUPus - Yeah it would almost be better to have to various threads be a focus for a few years with the larger threat slowly building behind it.

Besides the multiverse, it seems like we have 4 major threads:

1) The Wanda/Vision/Agatha stuff
2) The Thunderbolts stuff
3) Seemingly a build to World War Hulk
4) The Young Avengers buildup

It is a lot to keep up with. And if you don’t want every D+ show, you miss elements. Most of the audience isn’t watching every project any more.

@MotherGooseUPus - It was simpler because it was smaller. Now the MCU is huge and ever growing, not too dissimilar to its comic book counterpart. But it’s easy to keep up if you’re up to date. You can jump into most these shows/movies from Endgame, tbh. Only one that’s considered required viewing so far might be WandaVision for Doctor Strange.

@mountainman - i agree with what youre saying here. i just wish it was more cohesive and made more sense. yes, i watch every show and movie but man... would be nice if they were more organized

@PlusUltra - i agree it was simpler and i am up to date but for the casual fan they are going to be soooooo lost. i just wish it was more laid out or streamlined... idk, just seems overwhelming and not too structured

@MotherGooseUPus - I guess my question is - does it all have to connect? Granted, the greatest story ever told was the 10 years leading up to Infinity War. But, not everything connects in the comics and those books have their own stories leading up to their own events, part of which makes them great. They all acknowledge each other in a shared universe and even pop up as cameos from time to time in other books (Ms. Marvel and Spider-man anyone?). But does it all have to lead to similar theme or bad guy all the time? Or is this the new expectation? Me, I say it doesn't have to be connected to one specific greater story as long as its a good story. And, if you really think about it, even everything leading up to Infinity War - most of those were stand alone stories that were only connected via a post credits scene...

Today’s episode was really good, even the small action scene with Gravik murdering those goons. Was legit sitting having the same reaction as Fury to Rhodey’s attitude. Like is my guy fr? So satisfying Fury reminding Rhodey who he mf is

As they should. Fury needs to reassert his dominance after being away for so long. I think Nick’s swans song should be humbling Val

So when did Rhodey lose his leg braces/exoskeleton? Sure he had them last time we saw him.

We will find out that not ONLY is Valentina Nick Fury's ex-wife, but word of how diabolical she was during and after their marriage was so scandalous throughout SHIELD, Justin Hammer named his most fearsome missile "The Ex-Wife" in reference to as a cruel in-joke
