SECRET INVASION: The Skrull Invasion Of Earth Begins On New Empire Magazine Covers

A new look at Marvel Studios' first Disney+ TV series of 2023 has been revealed courtesy of Empire Magazine, and Samuel L. Jackson's former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury, finds himself surrounded...

Marvel Studios kicked off Phase 5 with Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has already started rolling into theaters across the globe.

Next up is another Disney+ TV series (and the first of both this Phase and 2023) in the form of Secret Invasion. This year feels a lot less jam-packed than 2022 in terms of MCU content, though that may prove to be far from a bad thing for the franchise. As for this series, Empire Magazine has unveiled two new covers that tease the excitement and intrigue which is now just six weeks or so away.

Neither reveals much we haven't already seen, though we're sure you'll agree that both of these are very cool. Marvel Studios appears to be taking a different approach to this story compared to the comic book it shares a name with, so expect epic action to be sidelined for espionage-based thrills. New stills and details should follow from Empire shortly, so stay tuned for those as well.

For now, you can check out both Secret Invasion covers in the Tweets below.

In Secret Invasion, set in the present-day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.

The show stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Charlayne Woodard, Killian Scott, Samuel Adewunmi, Dermot Mulroney, Christopher McDonald, Katie Finneran, with Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman, and Don Cheadle.

Ali Selim directs the series and executive-produces, along with fellow executive producers Kevin Feige, Jonathan Schwartz, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Samuel L. Jackson, Ali Selim, Kyle Bradstreet, and Brian Tucker. Bradstreet is also the Head Writer.

Secret Invasion arrives on Disney+ on June 21!

@theFUZZ008 - their basic covers do, but their subscriber covers rip pretty hard

@Cap1 - They're all very "samey" to my taste. But, to each their own.

@theFUZZ008 - yeah they often follow the same ‘main guy in movie surrounded by minimalist hue of movie’ but i like them. Their basic covers stink tho

I am very interested is this, but I wish it had played out as a whole MCU phase on the big screen. I think they have missed a bigger opportunity here.

When you have a great idea for a cover but throw the execution to your mate who’s learning photoshop.

This is the first Disney+ mcu show I've felt excited for since WandaVision. It better deliver (and I say that as someone who didn't hate any of the shows).

Looks like they outsourced the cover art to a high school student.

I think this could be a surprisingly great show that no one sees coming at a time where the MCU is at its lowest. Kinda similar to how Andor (a show nobody asked for) ended up being really good.

The blueprint to shutting up the “toxic” fans that complain about projects for lesser popular characters is to make a good show/movie. That being said, I’m really look forward to this 🤞🏾😬

At first I really thought that first poster with all the Talos/Skrulls were badly photoshopped but yep it is a nod to the Being John Malkovich movie. Cool then.

Hype is starting to rise... Seriously, regardless of how closely this show does or doesn't adhere to the original comic storyline (which I don't see how they could keep it particularly close on this scale), if we basically get a 5-6 hour "Winter Soldier" with Skulls I'll be a happy camper, especially as we haven't really gotten one of those from Marvel since... I dunno... "Winter Soldier"?
