GLOW Star Alison Brie Reflects On SHE-HULK: ATTORNEY AT LAW Casting Rumors And Praises Tatiana Maslany

When Marvel Studios was in the process of casting Jennifer Walters for the MCU, it was reported that they were looking for an "Alison Brie-type." Despite the rumor not coming from an overly reliable source, the internet took it to mean that Brie herself was being eyed for the role, and the entire thing steamrolled from there.

Tatiana Maslany has since smashed it as the title character in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, of course, and it's actually hard to imagine anyone else playing the lawyer turned superhero.

In the video below, the Glow and Community star reflects on the furore surrounding her potentially playing She-Hulk and admits that it wasn't something she was ever contacted about.

"I have no idea. I don’t know if we’ll ever know if it was legit...it was odd. It was definitely odd," Brie says. "In that time period, I went to pick up a sandwich at a sandwich shop and there was a man who was like, 'I just read that you got cast as She-Hulk.' I was like, 'Well, you’re the first one who has told me about it. Maybe I should check with my agents.'"

"There’s a lot of misinformation going on when it came to She-Hulk. But, you know, Tatiana Maslany is such a talented actress," she continues. "I’m really looking forward to seeing what she does with it. She’s incredible, I love Orphan Black, I watched every episode of that. I think she’s so talented, and the trailers look so fun. I’m excited to watch."

We're sure Brie will eventually land an MCU role because she's too much of a talent for Kevin Feige and company to overlook. There's no denying that she'd have made an incredible She-Hulk, but Maslany is currently making the character her own. Of course, it's always fun to think about what might have been!

This is what happens when you ask for an Allison brie type instead of just Allison brie. Wonder is Joel kinneman gets this kind of problem.

@Origame - didn’t they ask for Tatiana Maslany when they hired her?

@GhostDog - I'm not being serious. It's a joke about how everyone in Hollywood was talking about hiring an "Allison brie type" or a "Joel kinneman type".

@GhostDog - not just Disney. It's the new status quo for talent apparently. Hick chick from the Ozarks started doing this a lot in the final seasons

I would have been onboard with Brie if Marvel committed her to six seasons and a movie.

Remember when No Way Home was looking for a Joel Kinnaman type for the villain and the villain was Willem Dafoe?

@HWestRE420 - Not saying Marvel is innocent, but they are not the employers of these people, they hire third party VFX studios that agree to their terms. It's all business in the end and the VFX studios should be the one ensuring good work conditions in my opinion.

@Urubrodi - I can sort of still blame Marvel for last minute stuff in the contract.

How the hell is the third act NOT ready? As someone who is working on a film right now that is animated, the third act is mainly conceptualized first, granted script was not complete at the time but due to the complex nature, it needed to be sure that the scene landed effectively. Storyboarding and sticking to that scene is KEY.

Last minute changes though? Cause of certain rocks in the way or because of this or that? Like can they just stick according to plan?
