GLOW Star Alison Brie Talks More About Those Rumors Marvel Wants An "Alison Brie-Type" For SHE-HULK

Earlier this year, it was reported that Marvel Studios was looking for Alison Brie or an "Alison Brie-type" to play Jennifer Walters in the upcoming She-Hulk TV show, and the actress now offers an update.

Back in February, rumours started doing the rounds that Marvel Studios wanted to cast Alison Brie as Jennifer Walters in She-Hulk and, failing that, an "Alison Brie-type." The actress previously commented on those reports during an interview with James Corden, but when The Hollywood Reporter caught up with her, they asked if there's been any update.

"(Laughs.) You know, I've been trying to follow it online a little bit, and there don't seem to be," she admitted. "But it is always funny to me when something kind of takes off on the internet, and I'm getting my updates from fans tagging me in things on Instagram. I'm like, 'Oh, interesting. Oh, people are still talking about it. That's cool.' (Laughs.)"

Regardless of how true those initial rumours were, they created a very real desire among fans to see Brie take on the role of lawyer Jennifer Walters in this highly anticipated Disney+ TV series.

Considering how much mainstream coverage the actress has received regarding She-Hulk, she's bound to be on Kevin Feige's radar now, and even if she has been cast as the Jade Giant's cousin, it's not she's going to tell anyone that! Time will tell, of course, Brie is definitely a fan-favourite choice.

Plus, with Netflix's GLOW nearing its end, she's about to have a big gap in her schedule...

She seriously should have been the live action Harley Quinn (assuming it was closer to Paul Dini's original take)

@dracula - never really managed to get into Glow, but it did show Brie could handle the She-Hulk physique

@MalesMarcel - At first I didn't get into glow either, gave it a second chance a few months ago (for obvious reasons), after a few episodes really got into it and im not even a wrestling fan.
Also Marc Maron should seriously play Stan Lee in a biopic

That's not She-Hulk's physique.

@Battabing - It'll be Alison Brie as Jennifer Walters and Alison Brie in a mo-cap suit as She-Hulk, just like they do with Mark Ruffalo as Hulk. (Seriously, did James this he packed on 1000 lbs. of muscle and three feet of height?) She's very talented and definitely has the chops to be great in the role.

On the topic of Alison Brie, I finally got around to watching Community. I was really surprised by how good and often how very clever it was done (I remember when it originally aired, I thought it was just some goofy show)

@MalesMarcel - Season 4 was terrible though, lol

@tmp3 - I honestly didn't mind Season 4 as much as other people do, and I never felt like Seasons 5 and 6 improved all that much, either. Basically the back half of the first season through the third were magical, but it was lightning in a bottle. Whatever alchemy made it work got broken and it just never got fixed again.

Spock0Clock - 7/25/2020, 3:12 AM
Actually, even a lot of season three had problems.

Community was amazing for about a season and a half, but I don't think it was ever worse than "pretty good" even at its worst.

tmp3 - 7/25/2020, 3:25 AM
@Spock0Clock - Seasons 1-3 are on par w/ Arrested Development's first 3 seasons and Simpsons seasons 3-7 for me. Just absolute, top-tier comedy TV.
Season 4 felt like a bad parody of Community. 5-6 were alright, but didn't have the magic of those first 3 seasons.

@tmp3 - S4 was not that great (with superhero origin the worst and the videogame the best), but 5 and 6 did very well with the characters it had left.

Arrested Development however wasn't able to regain it's strength after the first three seasons (which or indeed on par with Community's)

@MalesMarcel - We don't talk about the Netflix Arrested Development 😔

Brie or bust.
Y'all shouldn't have started this rumor, cause now i have made my mind, i like this casting too much and i'm sure those who would like to have Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop...well they feel me. >:(

On Another Topic:

Just finished watching the 90's Marvel animated universe on Disney plus, grew up watching reruns of them, but this was my first time watching them from beginning to end. Yeah its....mostly good, it not on the level of the Bruce Timm DCAU, but its good

X Men The Animated Series: Consistently good, although going to have to re watch it again at some point, when I saw it, it was out of order, seems like they have fixed it now, and being out of order did hurt the experience.

Spider-man The Animated Series: Also really good, although thought they could have used less superhero team ups and spent more time on more traditional Spider-Man plots. Also cool to see the Prototype Spider-Verse with that finale.

The Incredible Hulk: First half was great, if it had stuck with that tone, I think it could have surpassed Spider-Man and X Men, but the second season was so bad.

Iron Man: Yeah, this was mostly bad, animation seriously looked cheap and the writing wasn't that good either. Kind of reminds of me of clips of old 80's cartoons where the intros looked amazing, but the shows looked nothing like it. Second season was a big improvement, but really couldn't get into it.

Fantastic Four: First season was just as bad as Iron Man season 1, but season 2 was a bigger improvement. Although I can see why when they crossed over in Secret Wars in Spider-Man, they changed the designs. Character designs look a bit too kiddie compared to the other marvel shows

@dracula - thats quite dedicated. I'm also planning on watching those shows after I finish Earths Mightiest Heroes (which for some reason isn't in chronological order on D+)
dracula
dracula - 7/25/2020, 2:21 AM
@MalesMarcel - Well finished X Men and Spiderman a while ago, the rest...honestly I quit when they got bad, only watched a few of Iron Man season 1 and 2 each, couldnt get into either so I dropped it. Skipped most of F4 season 1. gave up on hulk after 2 episodes into season 2.
Really is true, Marvel may rule the big screen, but DC rules TV.

bkmeijer2 - 7/25/2020, 2:26 AM
@dracula - but X-Men and Spider-Man are worth it though? Because they are on top of my list
dracula
dracula - 7/25/2020, 2:30 AM
@MalesMarcel - yeah and I think they are both in their proper order now. Spiderman is for sure. Id say watch the first 13 episodes of Hulk then drop it. F4, skip the first season and go to the second, but if you want silver surfer and galactus then watch the last few episodes of season 1. Personally dont think ill ever give Iron man another watch, but if you do skip to episode 14
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 7/25/2020, 4:05 AM
@dracula - Got it. And by any chance, you also got a recommendation on the Silver Surfer show?
dracula
dracula - 7/25/2020, 4:07 AM
@MalesMarcel - havent watched that one, forgot about that, since you know it doesnt really follow up on the f4 show. Ive heard its a good show
MuadDib
MuadDib - 7/25/2020, 8:59 AM
@dracula - LOVE this comment, I have every single one of those on my watch list with the same intent of rewatching my childhood.

But since DCU seems to be nearing its end (I hope it’s not true), I feel more pressure to finish the DC animated universe first. I’m making my wife watch it, and we’re nearly the end of BTAS, but there’s still the Batman and Robin series, STAS, JL, JLU, add a good handful of movies that fall in between some of those shows like And top it off w/ a rewatch of YJ all the way to the most recent.

THEN, watching the “New 52” rebooted animated movie universe that’s just wrapping up.

So once I’m 99 years old I’ll be able to start the equally long Marvel watch list

I love Alison Brie. Give her a better role than that, She-Hulk is dumb. I mean, you thought Antman had a stupid name...

It's the casting I've been pushing for a while. If Sarah Finn agrees (and there are no logistical hurdles or whatever), then I'll be happy to see it happen.

If Sarah Finn has a better choice, then I'll accept that, too. She usually knows way better than I do.

I've always pictured an Arab/ Middle Eastern- American actress, as Jennifer Walters. Below, Yasmine Aker, 'The 100'.
