SHE-HULK Behind-The-Scenes Video Reveals Who Played "Savage She-Hulk" In Finale's Opening Sequence

Last Thursday's season finale of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law began with an awesome homage to the classic The Incredible Hulk TV series starring Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno, with Jennifer Walters recounting the events of the previous episode via a recreation of the show's opening sequence.

The "Savage She-Hulk" wasn't CGI and clearly wasn't played by Tatiana Maslany. Now, it's come to light that actor and professional bodybuilder Devon Lewis actually donned the prosthetics and green body paint for the scene.

Lewis posted the following TikTok video, revealing that he Hulked-out for the sequence while sharing some behind-the-scenes footage/shots from the makeup chair.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law follows Jennifer Walters as she navigates the complicated life of a single, 30-something attorney who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk. The nine-episode series welcomes a host of MCU vets, including Mark Ruffalo as Smart Hulk, Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/the Abomination, and Benedict Wong as Wong. The cast also includes Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, Jameela Jamil, Jon Bass and Renée Elise Goldsberry. Executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Kat Coiro and Jessica Gao. Co-executive producers are Wendy Jacobson and Jennifer Booth.

she hulk was a good comedic entry to marvel's stable.

i would have preferred they utilize the "breaking the fourth wall" gimmick less.

I’m reminded of “Buzz’s Girlfriend” in Home Alone. Remember in the movie Kevin breaks into his brother Buzz’s room, and looks through all his private stuff and comes across a framed photo of Buzz’s girlfriend and shouts “Buzz! Your girlfriend! Woof!”

The director didn’t feel comfortable casting a girl in the role of Buzz’s girlfriend, because Kevin would be making fun of her appearance, so they cast a stocky guy and threw a wig on him.

That was funny and a great homage to the Bixby and Ferrigno series.
And of course twitter is whining and crying "They should've gotten a female body builder instead!" Like, sure, why not. But the whole thing is a gag, it's not to be taken seriously.

this was so perfect it made the rest of the show look cheap. they can do unique and interesting things, but the MCU house style must remain a constant

@Dredd97 - i feel like that’s why werewolf by night was so much fun, it felt so divorced from the normal mcu style and just went all in on schlock. prolly my favorite thing from this phase so far

Dredd97 - 10/17/2022, 11:21 AM
@tmp3 - exactly! and it shows when pushed put of the box, they can do some really cool shit. it doesn't always have to look one way. mix it up.

I liked the show but that last episode didn’t do it for me… it was worse than MoonKnight with the not showing Jake Lockley go berserker to save the day. She hulk didn’t even give us closure on anything with a tacked on “hey look Hulk had a son now”.
If she gets a second season I’m ok with the breaking of the fourth wall but just make sure whatever the plot is that it has a climax and conclusion. Remember, KEVIN has the right formula to make movies and shows we like, listen to KEVIN!

@slickrickdesigns - if I'm honest, the 4th wall breaks made it feed so cheesy, kind of like Sabrina the Teenage witch or saved by the bell from the 90s

@Drewwright816 - looks like she actually does have decent muscle for woman, but yeah, for the comedic element of over exaggeration, it was better to use a man since it looked funnier

She Hulk , although funny and entertaining at times, was an awful mess !! The Cgi was awful and the comedy parodies / spoofy jokes were just not funny, very cringe at times. Actually liked Smart Hulk for once, Abominations updated look was great , Daredevils cameo was a joy and Tatiana is a magnificent actress , very likeable and talented and stole most scenes. Would love to see her back for one of the movies.

It would have been great to see Joanie Laurer (Chyna) play that role had she still been alive.

That being said, that episode was absolutely horrible. I watched that right after watching Halloween Ends and I came to the conclusion that writers today just throw ideas on paper and don't care about interconnectivity, plot structure, theme or tone. This show was an absolute hot mess with the only really decent episode was Episode 8 where Daredevil showed up.

We actually got to see her be a lawyer, and a bad one at that. We never saw her being a great lawyer though she was praised for being great. We were to believe she was great simply because they TOLD us in the first episode.
TV/Movies are a visual medium. SHOW US don't tell usl.

I wanted to like this show and Maslani was likable enough, but they were all over the place all season with the plot and story.

Of the Disney+ shows

1. Wandavision (though the last two episodes were bad)
2. Arrow (The Kate Bishop Show)
3. Loki (and I really didn't care for it that much)
4. What If? (even though only a few of the episodes were any good)
5. Ms. Marvel (started strong but got worse as they went forward)
6. Falcon and Winter Soldier (Which was horribly disappointing but at least had structure)
7. She-Hulk
8. Moon Knight (which was a mess all around and confusing with an under realized and used hero)

The last two can easily be swapped. And sadly I had to look it up online to remember Loki which is not good.

Marvel/Disney is going for quantity not quality and it shows.

@TyrantBossMedia - That's not too differnt from mine, especially your notes. I don't post much on here, and if I gave my thoughts about She-Hulk, I'm sure I would be called an Incel or whatever, but my list is below and my dislike for She-Hulk had nothing to do with misogamy.

1. Hawkeye (I really liked Kate Bishop in this. The last episode and Kingpin intro was rushed, but still my overall favorite.)
2. Ms. Marvel (I struggled to get through the first episode, but really liked it after that. Didn't expect I'd enjoy this as I'm not the target demo, but I did.)
3. Wandavision
4. Loki (I liked Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson but overall I really didn't care for it that much either)
5. What If? (Same comment as you "even though only a few of the episodes were any good") Really hated the scene where Ultron splits Thanos in half. Guess Vision was too stupid to try that in Infinity War.
6. Falcon and Winter Soldier (One of my most anticipated, but disappointing)
7. Moon Knight (agree with the under realized and used hero)
8. She-Hulk (Just awful writing, a complete mess, and yes it was full of misandry.)
DarkeyeZ
DarkeyeZ - 10/17/2022, 12:49 PM
@TyrantBossMedia - I couldn't disagree more. The series was awesome. but, we have different tastes. you claim the last 2 episodes of Wandavision were bad, when they were in fact the best 2 episodes. What If? was by far the worst Marvel Show so far. my list is:
1. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier
2. Hawkeye
3. WandaVision
4. Loki
5. She-Hulk
6. Ms. Marvel
7. MoonKnight
8. What if?

What If? was just horrible. made Thanos a pushover and Tony Stark and idiot.

but eh, none of this matters, these are just opinions of people on the internet.
as long as people are intelligent to realize that EVERYONE has different tastes, so it is impossible to cater to everyone, it's all good.
