The Direct is reporting that Marvel Studios' She-Hulk TV series will feature Jennifer Walters breaking the fourth wall and addressing the audience. There is precedent for this in the comic books, of course, and the site claims "Walters will acknowledge that she's a character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe."
That would certainly help set the stage for Deadpool to do the same when Ryan Reynolds' Merc with the Mouth enters the MCU, while some insight into those recent Megan Thee Stallion rumours has also been revealed.
"The super-powered Walters will also have multiple interactions with real-world people in her ten-episode series," the site notes, "paving the way for surprising celebrity cameos."
It's unclear whether She-Hulk's ability to break the fourth wall will be explained in any way, but this is certainly a departure from the norm for Marvel Studios. That's what Disney+ has really been about from the start, though, and as with Deadpool, it would probably be for the best not to address this head-on as that could get a little weird and confusing.
Production on the show is expected to begin later this year, so official details could follow soon.
Tatiana Maslany will play the title character in She-Hulk, while Mark Ruffalo is set to reprise the role of The Hulk. Tim Roth also returns as The Abomination, while Jameela Jamil was recently cast as Titania. Ginger Gonzaga and Renée Elise Goldsberry have also joined the series as undisclosed characters.
She-Hulk is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2022.
