THE PUNISHER: Marvel Comics Artist Joe Quesada Shares Unseen Artwork Of Jon Bernthal As Frank Castle

Say what you will about the Marvel TV shows on Netflix, but if there's one thing they did right, it was casting Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle in Daredevil and The Punisher. Unfortunately, his future as the character is now in doubt, as we have no real idea whether Marvel Studios will use any of The Defenders on the big or small screen moving forward.

Now, Executive Vice President and Creative Director of Marvel Entertainment Joe Quesada has taken to Twitter to share a very cool piece of early artwork featuring The Punisher.

Quesada regularly created promo posters for these shows, and helped design their costumes as well.

This is definitely a cool piece of imagery, and one which is bound to make fans even more anxious to see more of Bernthal as Frank Castle in the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward.

Unfortunately, that seems unlikely to happen as of right now, and it's far more likely that Kevin Feige and company will ultimately choose to reboot the character somewhere down the line. After all, Marvel Studios had limited creative involvement with these shows, and there are already rumblings that we're getting a new take on the Inhumans in Ms. Marvel!

What do you guys think about this unused piece of artwork for The Punisher?

Unfinished? This is beautiful, also gives me hope that this is coming up close to the release of Netflix rights. Maybe we will see these guys crossover into the MCU in someway after all.

Bernthal was a [frick]in beast in this role.

Oh I see the internet trolls are up early today. Your mom's stomping around upstairs getting ready for work must have woke you up and made you grouchy. It's not okay that I liked the art work? It is not okay that I enjoyed these shows enough out of Marvel's hands to want to see them done in Marvel's hands? Is it wrong that I wanted to see them have a cameo in End Game fighting on the ground while the world was left broken? Punisher was said to have stopped the attack on Nick Fury and saved his life but who would ever want to see Samuel L. Jackson and Jon Bernthal standing shoulder to shoulder guns drawn on the big screen?

@Manmarvel - Don’t mind Netto. He must have an alarm on his phone to alert him about anything returning from the Marvel Netflix shows so he can stomp on anyone’s hope. 😂

Bernthal's great in the role, but the show felt way too padded. Could have streamlined it.

@tmp3

This goes for all the Netflix shows. Even the good seasons felt padded.

@regularmovieguy - Daredevil season 3's the only one I'd say justified the length from the ones I've seen.

Loved the fight scenes in this show

I have mixed feelings on this series. Bernthal was great in the role as was the action, but the whole government conspiracy in S1 was over-convoluted as was the mystery of the picture of the gay son arc in S2 which was like 15 years too late to be relevant.
