Say what you will about the Marvel TV shows on Netflix, but if there's one thing they did right, it was casting Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle in Daredevil and The Punisher. Unfortunately, his future as the character is now in doubt, as we have no real idea whether Marvel Studios will use any of The Defenders on the big or small screen moving forward.
Now, Executive Vice President and Creative Director of Marvel Entertainment Joe Quesada has taken to Twitter to share a very cool piece of early artwork featuring The Punisher.
Quesada regularly created promo posters for these shows, and helped design their costumes as well.
This is definitely a cool piece of imagery, and one which is bound to make fans even more anxious to see more of Bernthal as Frank Castle in the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward.
Unfortunately, that seems unlikely to happen as of right now, and it's far more likely that Kevin Feige and company will ultimately choose to reboot the character somewhere down the line. After all, Marvel Studios had limited creative involvement with these shows, and there are already rumblings that we're getting a new take on the Inhumans in Ms. Marvel!
What do you guys think about this unused piece of artwork for The Punisher?
