VisionQuest Fans React To Episode 7's Client Reveal: "I'm So Confused..." - Spoilers

This week's episode of VisonQuest finally unveiled the identity of the mysterious "Client" who has been hunting Vison, but the big reveal left viewers with more questions...

The penultimate episode of VisionQuest is now streaming, and while "Immolation" does reveal our first look at the mysterious "Client" who has been plaguing Vision since the series began, we don't actually find out exactly who this individual is and why he is so obsessed with getting his hands on the former Avenger.

Here's what we do know: Doctor Josephine Carrington was in a relationship with/married to a man with the same appearance as Ultron's human avatar (James Spader), who also played an integral part in creating the foundational AI technology that was eventually sold to Tony Stark.

When Vision arrives at the estate of the "great-grandfather of robotics," Phineas Horton, the Client steps out of the shadows and reveals himself as Jocasta's former lover.

This development has led to some confusion (we surely won't be spoiling anything by clarifying that, no, this isn't Ultron himself), but this is obviously by design, as we won't get all the answers we're looking for until next week's finale.

The prevailing theory seems to be that this unnamed individual is a descendant of Horton (we did see his daughter take his notebook at the beginning of the episode), who created the first synthetic man, but will the explanation really be that simple?

Be sure to share your theories in the comments.

"When VisionQuest begins, Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponize him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron. His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate.

As Vision evades capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron’s influence, and unravel the enigma that is his young companion if he’s to survive.”

VisionQuest also stars Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff/Speed and Thomas Shepherd, Todd Stashwick as Paladin, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, Lauren Morais as Lisa Molinari, Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Diane Morgan as an associate of Paladin, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., and James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S. Faran Tahir also reprises his Iron Man role as Raza, with Cristian Lavin and Mary McDonnell appearing in undisclosed roles.

The series is directed by Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali, Terry Matalas, and written by Terry Matalas, Cindy Appel, Christopher Monfette, Nicole Falsetti, and Matthew Okumura.

What’s confusing about it? Jo programmed her and her lovers’ personalities into the system. It’s his that manifested when Stark and Banner created Ultron.

@Pathogen - It's incredible. Absolutely incredible. But it's a talker. It's philosophical. It's psychological. You have to engage with it on that level.

Not very confusing

Jo and her lover had their AI getting sold off to Tony against their wishes, already established this in the previous episodes.

Jo and her lover hide their personalities in the coding as a type of malevolent Trojan Horse, assuming Tony would in fact weaponize it

Surprisingly, in the aftermath of Tony’s new found outlook on life, he doesn’t weaponize it…Rather Tony develops the AI into a fully functioning assistant (J.A.R.V.I.S.). As such, the Trojan Horse coding never initializes.

Tony and Bruce further develop the AI, J.A.R.V.I.S. as it’s now named, into a distinctly weapons focused program…Ultron. As such the Trojan Horse coding initializes and manifests itself as the Ultron we all now know. It’s self awareness fundamentally misunderstanding its programming, which was intended to stop Tony Stark from making a weapon to destroy human life, into a warped view of ~saving~ life by destroying it…But we all watched this movie already.
