Despite more release date shifts, 2021 is starting to pick up, and it's definitely been another busy week for news here on CBM. Time will tell whether we're facing another wave of delays, but regardless of what the future holds, Hollywood is (currently) showing no signs of slowing down.

We kicked the week off with a new trailer for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, before moving on to some huge Marvel casting rumours, a disgraced MCU director, and even a Star Wars firing. Oh, and as if that's not enough, [SPOILER] donned a comic accurate costume in WandaVision!

That barely scratches the surface of the past seven days, though, and there's a lot here to delve into.

To take a look through these stories, all you guys need to do is hit the "Next" button down below.

10. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2's Rumoured Villain

RU1

Work is currently underway on the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel, and while we're confident that Spider-Man 2099 will show up, not much beyond that has been revealed about the plot.

Well, this week we were treated to a rumour claiming that The Spot will be one of the key villains. He debuted in the pages of Spectacular Spider-Man, and is a fitting choice (especially as his powers could easily tie into Miles Morales' future trips through the Multiverse Spider-Verse).

9. A New Trailer For Superman & Lois

RU12

Superman & Lois is fast approaching, and this week, The CW released a new trailer for the highly anticipated series. It once again looks vastly different to anything else we've seen from the ArrowVerse The CWVerse, but that's certainly not a bad thing, especially given how cinematic the footage is.

As you'll see, Clark Kent's decision to reveal that he's secretly Superman doesn't sit well with his two sons after they realise he's spent years lying to them. General Sam Lane doesn't look best pleased, either, but the Man of Steel really looks set to have his hands full with a mysterious, armoured baddie.

8. The Last Of Us TV Series Finds Its Joel And Ellie

RU123

Despite rumours that Blade star Mahershala Ali would play Joel in HBO's small screen adaptation of The Last of Us, we learned this week that The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal will take on that role.

As for Ellie, Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) is set to play the smuggler's surrogate daughter. Both casting decisions are fantastic, and we're sure they'll do the game justice when it premieres.

More details can be found in the original post.

7. Sony Offers Keanu Reeves Kraven The Hunter's Lead Role

RU1234

Like it or not, Sony Pictures continues to develop its own slate of Marvel movies. Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Morbius are on the way, while Kraven the Hunter (which is set to be directed by J.C. Chandor) shouldn't be too far behind. We know very little about the creative direction the character is being taken in, but it was claimed this week that the studio is zeroing in on the movie's lead star!

That's said to be The Matrix 4 and John Wick star Keanu Reeves, a surprise choice, but one which makes sense given the sort of talent Sony Pictures has managed to attract to the SPUMC thus far.

It's since been said that Reeves passed on the role, and you can find that story here.

6. Joss Whedon Hit With Abuse Claims

RU12345

Justice League star Ray Fisher has made a series of damaging allegations about Joss Whedon, and while he's never got specific about what happened during those reshoots, it didn't sound good.

We've heard rumblings about the filmmaker in the past, of course, but things were taken to a whole new level this week. Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel star Charisma Carpenter issued a shocking statement on social media, and that opened the floodgates to a new wave of claims.

Whedon has yet to respond, but this has put The Avengers helmer in an extremely negative light.

More on these disturbing allegations can be found here.

5. Comic Accurate Quicksilver In WandaVision

RU123456

This week's episode of WandaVision was inspired by Malcolm in the Middle, and put the spotlight on Evan Peters as Quicksilver. Of course, we still don't know if that's actually who he is, and Marvel Studios dropped plenty of clues, and left us with even more questions, this past Friday.

Regardless, the actor did a phenomenal job in the role, and seeing him don that comic accurate Halloween costume - hair and all - was an undeniable highlight of this week's instalment.

Head over to the original post to take a look at Evan Peters as Quicksilver.

4. Black Panther's New Lead Revealed?

RU1234567

We know that T'Challa won't be recast following the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman, but rather than putting Erik Killmonger, M'Baku, or Shuri (a definite fan-favourite choice) beneath the Black Panther helmet, it seems Marvel Studios may have plans to introduce a whole new character.

That's said to be Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page, but who will he play? The obvious suggestion is Kasper Cole; created by Christopher Priest and Dan Fraga, he's best known as White Tiger, but has also held the Black Panther mantle. We'll have to wait and see if this one pans out, though.

Click here for more details on this surprise rumour.

3. The Falcon And The Winter Soldier Trailer

RU12345678

The Super Bowl wasn't quite as exciting as usual this year, with most studios deciding to give the event a miss due to the uncertainty surrounding theatrical released in 2021. That doesn't affect streaming titles, of course, hence why The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was put front and centre!

In this thrilling preview, we got a much better idea of what to expect...and it's clear Sam and Bucky really don't like each other. We took a deep dive into the footage in our in-depth breakdown

Watch this action-packed sneak-peek here.

2. Justice League's Joker Revealed

RU12345679

Jared Leto will return as The Joker in Zack Snyder's Justice League, but he'll have a very different look. Those silly tattoos from Suicide Squad have been scrapped, and the Clown Prince of Crime looks more deranged and menacing than ever before (fitting as he'll be part of the "Knightmare" scenes).

"The cool thing about the scene is that it's Joker talking directly to Batman about Batman," Snyder teased this week. "It's Joker analyzing Batman about who he is and what he is. That’s the thing I also felt like fans deserved from the DC Universe. That is to say, the Jared Leto Joker and the Ben Affleck Batman, they never really got together. It seemed uncool to me that we would make it all the way through this incarnation of Batman and Joker without seeing them come together."

Find out more from Snyder, and see the photos, in our original article.

1. No More Cara Dune In The Mandalorian

RU123456791

Gina Carano has come under fire for controversial comments on social media for a while now, but comparing Republicans to Jewish people in World War II, and sharing more anti-mask messaging, was the straw that broke the camel's back for Disney. Now, she's been fired from The Mandalorian

It's not surprising, but it is disappointing; while Carano is entitled to her opinions, sharing such extreme, conservative views online was never going to end well, and she's gone from nearly having her own series and being a role model to young girls to being a disgraced star no one will want to work with. Who knows what led to Carano self-destructing, but this doesn't feel like a huge loss.

Carano's response to this news (it's a shocker!) can be found right here.

@MyCoolYoung - yeah, if we were living within the Hex. If you've noted, the day and time in the Hex are different from in the real world.

@HeavyMetal4Life - that's what I was trying to figure out. Like obviously decades are passing in the hex but what's the time difference? But I guess 30 minutes can be whatver amount of time they want/need it to be in a sitcom/hex

@MyCoolYoung - Well if you think about it, if the broadcast is running nonstop, and each episode is a new day...
But yeah, even Wanda is having difficulty keeping up with which day it is.

I'm going to shit my pants if Reed Richards shows up in Wandavision. I'm curious what story Feige and Co. Draw from for their F4. My personal favorite is Hickman's run...but I dont think it would happen. Itd be amazing to see a live action "Counsel of Reeds".

Gina Carano firing was entailing to say the least.
I didn't have to say much just that Disney need to sort out how one person gets away posting shit and another gets fired for it.
