WANDAVISION And THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Win Big At The MTV Movie & TV Awards 2021

The MTV Movie & TV Awards may not be the most prestigious of ceremonies, but it could be an indication of how things will play out for certain films and TV shows over the next year or so.

As you can see below, WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier did very well, with Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Kathryn Hahn, and Sebastian Stan all walking away with major prizes. Also, the fact that WandaVision beat the likes of The Boys and Bridgerton for "Best Show" is definitely a big deal, and hopefully a sign of things to come at the Emmys!

The MTV Movie & TV Awards are always a fun time, and a lot of regular moviegoers are definitely invested in how they play out. Chances are both Marvel Studios TV shows will receive a small bump in viewership now, and that should bode well for the future of the MCU on the small screen.

I really liked Wandavision and FATS but the MTV Movie Awards are a joke.

@Moriakum - MTV awards may be a joke, but I feel like its a MUCH better representation of what the general audience prefers vs something like the Oscars.

And when you think about it, isn't that kind of better? I mean, all I ever hear about is how biased Hollywood is when it comes to a lot of things. Yet the Oscars are still considered to be held in such high regard? I don't get that.

At the risk of sounding like Dragon, I'm not a movie critic. I like what I like. Is what I like always going to be the best, or even better movie? Nope. I have tons of guilty pleasures that I will watch multiple times and enjoy far more than most Oscar winning films. So its kind of nice to have an awards show that leans more into that kind of view than the hoity toity, biased, and unbalanced opinions of something like the Oscars.

@Moriakum - I take it as a healthy sign when something I like also appeals to a very different demographic.

@Chewtoy - Don't get me wrong, I'm a [frick]ing MCU fanboy, I admit it and I'm glad WandaVision and FATWS won something. But the MTV Movie Awards are strange, laughable and ridiculous.

AT&T just dumped off WarnerMedia to Discovery.

@Roodi - I'm not sure it's a dump, so much as yet another merger.
Also, they're in talks, so it hasn't happened yet. If it doesn't happen this week, it won't happen. That's the problem with AT&T being in so much debt. They need to merge HBO Max with Discovery to compete with Netflix.

How did that Wanda vs Agatha fight win? I admit the show was great, but the fight felt pretty generic. Cobra Kai should've won that for camerawork alone

I mean, it's basically just a popularity contest for a potentially younger audience. Then again, it is a popularity contest, and the MCU won big. Another message to everyone who insisted the franchise might be in trouble post-Endgame.
