Another round of concept art from an upcoming Marvel Studios project has been revealed, this time for the What If? animated series coming to Disney+. As you'll see in the Tweet embedded below, the biggest surprise here is a Gamora decked out in the armor Thanos wore in Avengers: Endgame.
We also see Loki, a weird take on The Collector, and a totally new Hulkbuster (which is seemingly being piloted by Bruce Banner instead of Tony Stark...unless that's meant to be an older Steve Rogers). We're not sure what the deal is what the Ultron wearing a cape, but dang it, it's pretty darn awesome.
This concept art was likely used as a reference for merchandise, so expect more to follow.
A brief synopsis for the series has been released by Marvel Studios which states, "'What If…?' flips the script on the MCU, reimagining famous events from the films in unexpected ways."
"Coming to Disney+ in summer 2021, Marvel Studios’ first animated series focuses on different heroes from the MCU," it continues, "featuring a voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their roles. The series is directed by Bryan Andrews; Ashley Bradley is head writer."
No premiere date has been set, but the animated series is scheduled for a tentative summer 2021 release. With Loki heading our way in June, we'd bet on What If? following sometime in July or August.
