PAN'S LABYRINTH Actress Ivana Baquero Joins MTV's SHANNARA
Well she's all grown up now, and is set to star alongside Arrow's Manu Bennett as "Eretria" in Jon Favreau's small screen adaptation of Terry Brook's Shannara saga.
The Wrap report that MTV's Shannara TV series has rounded out its cast with Ivana Baquero (Pan's Labyrinth, Gelo, My Other Me), who will play a human character named Eretria. The site describe her as coming "from the wrong side of the tracks, Eretria has been forced to use her beauty and wits to survive." She was raised by thieves known as the Rovers, but then joins Wil Ohmsford (Austin Butler) and Amberle’s (Poppy Drayton) quest to save the Four Lands. Manu Bennett will also star as Allanon.
Jon Favreau and Smallville duo Al Gough and Miles Millar will produce the show, which is based on the 20-strong series of novels (there has been one graphic novel also - The Dark Wraith Of Shannara - published back in 2008) in Terry Brooks' Shannara saga. The story is set after the destruction of our civilization in the "great wars", with the world reverting to a medieval state and magic re-emerging. Many of the protagonists in the story are descended from the Eleven noble family of Shannara. Apparently the TV show will begin by adapting the second novel in the series, The Elfstones Of Shannara. The first two episodes will be directed by TMNT's Jonathan Liebesman.
